Book Matrix Analysis of Bonded Double layer Shells of Revolution

Download or read book Matrix Analysis of Bonded Double layer Shells of Revolution written by William M. Leveroni and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 133 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The methods of finite-element matrix structural analysis are applied to the solution of arbitrary shells of revolution with double layers joined together with a soft bond. The shell is idealized as a series of conical frusta, connected at the nodal circles. Relative displacements of the upper and the lower layers in the meridional and circumferential directions are permitted, whereas normal displacements of the upper and the lower layers are assumed to be the same. The matrix-displacement method is employed by assuming a power-series-displacement pattern in the upper and in the lower layers of the conical element. This together with a Fourier expansion of displacements and loads in the circumferential angle results in an element stiffness matrix for the jth harmonic. The axisymmetric loading problem has been completely programmed. The stiffness of the bond layer is included in the calculation of the element stiffness matrix. (Author).

Book Finite Element Bibliography

Download or read book Finite Element Bibliography written by Gerard De Vries and published by Springer. This book was released on 1976-12 with total page 706 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thjs bibliography had its inception in 1967, when the compilers first attempted a comprehensive cov erage of the finite element literature using both manual and computer-based retrieval. Initially, the data base was stored on a card index, but this was subsequently transferred to punched cards and magnetic tape. Computer processing was adopted at an early stage to derive the three index formats from the data base. Over the subsequent years, several versions of the bibliography were produced, with two of these being made available in a report form to other researchers. From the widespread interest in these documents, it became evident that there was a need for a commercially-available comprehensive bibliography in this area. A major effort was undertaken to revise, update, and extend the data base, resulting in this present volume. The bibliography covers the period 1956-1975 primarily, although some earlier publications of histori cal interest are included. The citations are not restricted to the English language and documents are listed in many languages and from diverse places of origin. All publication formats were accepted, so that references will be found to books, monographs, journal papers and articles, theses, dissertations, reports, surveys, and the like.

Book An Assessment of Current Capability for Computer Analysis of Shell Structures

Download or read book An Assessment of Current Capability for Computer Analysis of Shell Structures written by Richard F. Hartung and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report contains an assessment of current shell analysis capability. The assessment is based on work conducted at the Lockheed Palo Alto Research Laboratory under contract to the Air Force Flight Dynamics Laboratory. In addition to surveying the open literature, information for the study was gathered during a series of visits made to organizations throughout the United States at which there is an active shell analysis research effort. More than 40 industrial concerns, government agencies and universities have been visited to date. During each visit, technical personnel working in the area of shell analysis were interviewed to determine the scope of their present analysis capability, to learn of current research activities and to discuss computer methods of shell analysis in general. Information so obtained is summarized in a series of briefs which appear in the Appendix of this report.

Book Structural Analysis Systems

Download or read book Structural Analysis Systems written by A. Niku-Lari and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-06-06 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Structural Analysis Systems: Software—Hardware Capability—Compatibility—Applications, Volume 2 is a practical guidebook on structural analysis systems and their applications. It provides detailed information about a specific software, its postprocessor capabilities and limitations, computer-aided design connection, and compatibility with the most common computers. Several practical examples from industry with computer and user cost are given. This volume consists of 17 chapters and begins with a description of AFAG, a dual finite element analysis program based on the flexibility method. The discussion then turns to the AQUADYN system, designed primarily to reduce the hydrodynamics problem to a linear integral equation for large floating or immersed structures. The following chapters focus on other structural analysis computer programs such as BOSOR4 and BOSOR5, INFESA, MEF/MOSAIC, RCAFAG, and STRUGEN. Some general purpose and special purpose finite element programs used for stress analysis of composite materials are also considered. This book will be a useful resource for practitioners in scientific and industrial disciplines such as mechanical or civil engineering, informatics, applied mathematics, and computer science.

Book The Finite Element Analysis of Shells Fundamentals

Download or read book The Finite Element Analysis of Shells Fundamentals written by Dominique Chapelle and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors present a modern continuum mechanics and mathematical framework to study shell physical behaviors, and to formulate and evaluate finite element procedures. With a view towards the synergy that results from physical and mathematical understanding, the book focuses on the fundamentals of shell theories, their mathematical bases and finite element discretizations. The complexity of the physical behaviors of shells is analysed, and the difficulties to obtain uniformly optimal finite element procedures are identified and studied. Some modern finite element methods are presented for linear and nonlinear analyses. A state of the art monograph by leading experts.

Book Finite Element Analyses of Solids of Revolution

Download or read book Finite Element Analyses of Solids of Revolution written by S. K. Takahashi and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two finite element computer programs are described in this report. The programs are quite general and are applicable to a number of different problems, including many which may be encountered by the U.S. Navy in building deep ocean structures. The thin-shell solid-of-revolution program can be used to analyze both the axisymmetrically and the asymmetrically loaded shell composed of an arbitrary number of bonded layers, each with a different thickness and different elastic orthotropic properties. The thick-wall solid-of-revolution program can accommodate only an arbitrarily axisymmetrically loaded body of revolution. A sample problem is solved for each of the two computer programs presented in this report. (Author).
