Book A Finite difference Method Solution of Non similar Equilibrium and Non equilibrium Air Boundary Layer Equations with Laminar and Turbulent Viscosity Models Part I Analysis

Download or read book A Finite difference Method Solution of Non similar Equilibrium and Non equilibrium Air Boundary Layer Equations with Laminar and Turbulent Viscosity Models Part I Analysis written by H. E. Gould and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 23 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An analysis is developed for the boundary layer flows, with dissociated and ionized air species in chemical equilibrium or with finite rate chemistry, about general body geometries at zero angle of attack. The partial differential equations for the boundary layer, about axisymmetric and two-dimensional bodies, are transformed to the von Mises stream function coordinate. Teh resulting equations are reduced to an algebraic system obtained by adopting an explicit finite-difference method of solution. These equations provide the basis for a computer program to obtain numerical solutions. Laminar and several turbulent viscosity models are included in the analysis. Turbulent diffusivity models based upon the law of the wall, law of the wake, a curve-fit to pipe flow eddy viscosity and laminar viscosity contributions are introduced. (Author).

Book A Finite Difference Method Solution of Nonsimilar Equilibrium and Non equilibrium Air Boundary Layer Equations with Laminar and Turbulent Viscosity Models Part Ii Computer Program and Supplement

Download or read book A Finite Difference Method Solution of Nonsimilar Equilibrium and Non equilibrium Air Boundary Layer Equations with Laminar and Turbulent Viscosity Models Part Ii Computer Program and Supplement written by H. E. Gould and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 1 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes a program for the numerical solution by an explicit finite difference technique of the momentum, species conservation, and energy equations for an equilibrium or chemically reacting air boundary layer. Laminar and several turbulent viscosity models can be applied through the thickness of the boundary layer. Seven air species are included: O2, O, N2, N, NO, NO+ and e-. Laminar and turbulent effects in any of the equations can be selectively controlled by input indicators. The various viscosity models can be applied to the entire thickness of the boundary layer or the boundary layer can be divided into two segments and different viscosity models applied to each segment. Provision has also been made for boundary layer swallowing of new inviscid streamlines. Properties along the inviscid streamline are computed to establish the varying streamwise outer edge conditions. (Author).

Book Numerical Solution of the Compressible Boundary Layer Equations Over Axisymmetric Surfaces

Download or read book Numerical Solution of the Compressible Boundary Layer Equations Over Axisymmetric Surfaces written by Charles R. Blake and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 121 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A numerical solution of the compressible boundary layer equations was developed for flows over either two-dimensional or axisymmetric surfaces. The solution method is capable of solving for boundary layer parameters in either laminar or turbulent flows. In the case of turbulent flow, closure is achieved by use of a two-layered eddy viscosity model. The boundary layer equations are solved by a numerical marching procedure. A Mangler-Levy-Lees transformation of independent variables is used to improve the efficiency of the numerical solution. The transformed boundary layer equations are then linearized by a three point finite difference scheme. The linearized equations are solved by a matrix solution technique. Comparisons of computed boundary layer parameters with experimentally determined parameters were made for both laminar and turbulent flows over axisymmetric bodies. The comparisons show the numerical solution to be very accurate. (Author).

Book Finite Difference Methods of Solution of Nonlinear Flow Processes with Application to the Ben ard Problem

Download or read book Finite Difference Methods of Solution of Nonlinear Flow Processes with Application to the Ben ard Problem written by Jacob E. Fromm and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A general method of numerical calculation of compressible flows is outlined in which such flows are divided into irrotational and solenoidal parts. The general equations are reduced to the Boussinesq approximation for consideration of the B©Øenard problem. The B©Øenard problem, both in method of solution and result, is used to analyse a number of crucial aspects of finite difference calculation. In particular, the nonlinear formulations in current use are developed and related in a systematic way; and, in addition, some higher order methods are derived. Examples of the time-dependent behavior of the thermal convection problem are examined for physical interpretation in terms of gross property measurements and character of instantaneous solutions with the hope that the experience so gained will be valuable to extensions of the numerical method to more general problems.
