Book excerpt: FINALLY: THE ANSWER TO WHY SOMEONE SHOULD BUY FROM YOU, WORK FOR YOU, INVEST IN YOU OR PARTNER WITH YOUAs a business leader, you need this answer to find your best-fit clients, engage employees, secure partners and win investors. In this trailblazing book, storyteller Paul Furiga reveals the importance of your Capital S Story to drive these results. Finding Your Capital S Story shows how our brains are hard-wired to remember stories and use them to eliminate 21st-century information overload and digital clutter. Even before we had written language, we shared stories and now, thanks to MRIs and other scientific tools, we can prove the power of storytelling. Classical advertising fails to help businesses, organizations or consumers solve problems or challenges. Advertisers often fail on the most critical measure they owe to those paying for ads: results. Unfortunately, advertising has historically and artificially defined the focus of communication ONLY to sell products. An authentic story is the most effective communication strategy. It is self-contained and requires little or no explanation. All you need to move hearts and minds is a storyteller, an authentic story that resonates and an engaged audience. By uncovering, developing and sharing your Capital S Story, you have the opportunity to turn biology, culture and science to your benefit, engaging your most important audiences. In Finding Your Capital S Story, Paul Furiga shares the formula to:Quickly describe your true business purpose and your genuine identityIdentify those in your organization best equipped to share your storyContinually engage your most important audiencesOver four decades, Paul Furiga has written and edited 20,000 stories as a journalist, covering everything from murders to the White House. Download or read book Developing and Utilizing Employability Capitals written by Tran Le Huu Nghia and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-01-30 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Graduate employability is a significant concern for most higher education institutions worldwide. During the last two decades, universities have attempted to implement their employability agendas to support their students to enhance employment outcomes. However, within today’s globalized labour markets, employability has gone far beyond the notion of obtaining stable and permanent employment. This book explores graduates’ experiences in developing and utilizing employability capitals for career development and success in different labour markets. In the chapters, the graduate contributors narrate and discuss how they negotiated their employability on the transitions across jobs, occupational sectors and labour markets. The chapters address key issues, including how employability is understood by graduates of different disciplines, at different career stages and in different contexts; how they develop and utilise such capitals along with strategies to negotiate their employability; and what can be done to move the higher education employability agenda forward. The book presents international insights and perspectives into transitions from education to work and career development across the labour markets, as well as calls for improving the graduate employability agenda. It is an invaluable resource for researchers and academics, university leaders, policymakers and students who are concerned about graduate employability.

Download or read book American Capitals written by Christian Montès and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2014-01-10 with total page 405 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: State capitals are an indelible part of the American psyche, spatial representations of state power and national identity. Learning them by heart is a rite of passage in grade school, a pedagogical exercise that emphasizes the importance of committing place-names to memory. But geographers have yet to analyze state capitals in any depth. In American Capitals, Christian Montès takes us on a well-researched journey across America—from Augusta to Sacramento, Albany to Baton Rouge—shedding light along the way on the historical circumstances that led to their appointment, their success or failure, and their evolution over time. While all state capitals have a number of characteristics in common—as symbols of the state, as embodiments of political power and decision making, as public spaces with private interests—Montès does not interpret them through a single lens, in large part because of the differences in their spatial and historical evolutionary patterns. Some have remained small, while others have evolved into bustling metropolises, and Montès explores the dynamics of change and growth. All but eleven state capitals were established in the nineteenth century, thirty-five before 1861, but, rather astonishingly, only eight of the fifty states have maintained their original capitals. Despite their revered status as the most monumental and historical cities in America, capitals come from surprisingly humble beginnings, often plagued by instability, conflict, hostility, and corruption. Montès reminds us of the period in which they came about, “an era of pioneer and idealized territorial vision,” coupled with a still-evolving American citizenry and democracy.
