Book Field Mapping for the Oil Geologist Classic Reprint

Download or read book Field Mapping for the Oil Geologist Classic Reprint written by C. A. Warner and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-27 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Field Mapping for the Oil Geologist In the preparation of this work it has been the author's aim to furnish a hand book of field methods that would be of value to those geologists who have had little experience with the methods commonly used in examining a territory not yet drilled, a work which consumes much of the oil geologist's time. To treat in a thorough way all the various subjects that might be considered under the head of Field Mapping would require considerable space; and in this hand book only the more important phases of Field Mapping have been considered. It has been the author's desire to give the reader a general knowledge of the more important principles and thus lay a general foundation upon which detailed work in any particular area can be carried further. The work of the oil geologist is constantly expanding and his duties are no longer confined simply to the mapping of structures. He must be prepared to gather information after an area has begun to produce, as well as to keep in touch with all activities that bear upon the region in which he is working. For a knowledge of operations in a district, other than those of simple Field Mapping, the reader is referred to the book "Oil and Gas Production," by Johnson and Huntley. Book Applied Subsurface Geological Mapping with Structural Methods

Download or read book Applied Subsurface Geological Mapping with Structural Methods written by Daniel J. Tearpock and published by Pearson Education. This book was released on 2002-08-16 with total page 1414 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Applied Subsurface Geological Mapping, With Structural Methods, 2nd Edition is the practical, up-to-the-minute guide to the use of subsurface interpretation, mapping, and structural techniques in the search for oil and gas resources. Two of the industry's leading consultants present systematic coverage of the field's key principles and newest advances, offering guidance that is valuable for both exploration and development activities, as well as for "detailed" projects in maturely developed areas. Fully updated and expanded, this edition combines extensive information from the published literature with significant material never before published. The authors introduce superior techniques for every major petroleum-related tectonic setting in the world. Coverage includes: A systematic, ten-step philosophy for subsurface interpretation and mapping The latest computer-based contouring concepts and applications Advanced manual and computer-based log correlation Integration of geophysical data into subsurface interpretations and mapping Cross-section construction: structural, stratigraphic, and problem-solving Interpretation and generation of valid fault, structure, and isochore maps New coverage of 3D seismic interpretation, from project setup through documentation Compressional and extensional structures: balancing and interpretation In-depth new coverage of strike-slip faulting and related structures Growth and correlation consistency techniques: expansion indices, Multiple Bischke Plot Analysis, vertical separation versus depth, and more Numerous field examples from around the world Whatever your role in the adventure of finding and developing oil or gas resources–as a geologist, geophysicist, engineer, technologist, manager or investor–the tools presented in this book can make you significantly more effective in your daily technical or decision-oriented activities.

Book Oil Field Production Geology

Download or read book Oil Field Production Geology written by Mike Shepherd and published by AAPG. This book was released on 2009-09-20 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This book was written for students, new professionals in oil companies, and for anyone with an interest in reservoir geology. It explains the background to production geology in the context of oil field subsurface operations. It also gives practical guidelines as to how a production geologist can analyze the reservoir geology and fluid flow characteristics of an oil field with the aim of improving hydrocarbon recovery. Advice is given on how to search for the remaining oil volumes in a producing field, where these pockets are typically found, and then how to plan wells to target these volumes."--Publisher's description.

Book Geological Structural Mapping and Favorable Sectors for Oil and Gas in Cuba

Download or read book Geological Structural Mapping and Favorable Sectors for Oil and Gas in Cuba written by Manuel Enrique Pardo Echarte and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-02-07 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The so-called "Non-conventional geophysical-geochemical exploration methods" are used, in the particular case of oil and gas exploration, for the detection and mapping of active microseepage of light hydrocarbons with a vertical nature on the gas-oil accumulations. The non-seismic exploration methods used in Cuba are: Remote Sensing, Gravimetry, Aeromagnetometry, Airborne Gamma Spectrometry (AGS) and Morphometry (non-conventional, from the Digital Elevation Model 90x90m). The AGS also classifies, as a non-conventional geophysical-geochemical method, together with the Redox Complex. Besides, it is of interest to know the geological-structural framework where these microseepage occur. That is why the benefits of using these methods (excluding Redox Complex), prior to their integration with geological and seismic data, translate into a first approximation, valid for an initial understanding of geology and mapping of favourable areas of possible gas-oil interest. Finally, from the implementation of these methods (including Redox Complex), perspective sectors for oil and gas are obtained, once the integration with geology and seismic has been carried out. The book presents a brief theoretical account of the methods used and, as practical results, a set of perspective sectors of possible interest for exploration in Cuba. As a complementary result, the book also offer an evaluation of the areas that meet the petroleum-geologist premises for the presence of large accumulations of high quality oil in Cuba.
