Book Fibromyalgia Using the Mind Body Connection to Heal

Download or read book Fibromyalgia Using the Mind Body Connection to Heal written by Kathleen Frolich and published by . This book was released on 2005-03 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the personal story of the author, Kathleen Frolich, who spent years seeking help and answers to all the pain she experienced. In 2002, she was finally diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Medical science offered her no cause or cure for the condition which had become disabling for her. Unwilling to remain dependent on pain medication, she began to research fibromyalgia, chronic myofascial pain and muscle tissue. Trying to fit her history of symptoms into what she learned from the research, she was able to develop her own Theory of Causation. With the cause established, the door for hope and healing opened wide. Within one year, she was 100% medication free and 95% pain and symptom free. Known breathing, relaxation, and imagery techniques were used. In addition, she worked with the understanding and belief that the mind is not separate from the body. It is the body, and what the intellect knows and believes, the body responds to. Most often this is an unconscious process. Her goal was to make a conscious, aware connection between what we call "mind" and the body's natural healing capacity. She states: "If you can consciously think to raise your hand, dance, run, walk or smile, you can do this."

Book Integrative Therapies for Fibromyalgia Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Myofascial Pain

Download or read book Integrative Therapies for Fibromyalgia Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Myofascial Pain written by Celeste Cooper and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2010-02-05 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A guide to coping with fibromyalgia, myofascial pain, and chronic fatigue syndrome • Reveals how to deal with each disorder and how treatments can interact or aggravate if more than one disorder is present • Offers techniques to dispel the side effects created by these illnesses Fibromyalgia, chronic myofascial pain, and chronic fatigue syndrome are often seen as interchangeable conditions, a belief held even by many health care providers. Nothing could be further from the truth--however, they do often coexist. Knowing if more than one of these disorders is present is extremely important because the treatment for one of them can often exacerbate the problems caused by the others. Written by a registered nurse and a psychologist who has been treating these conditions since 1994, this book presents an integrative medical approach to these three disorders with a strong emphasis on utilizing and strengthening the mind-body connection to restore well-being. The authors provide a thorough guide to numerous treatment options--from diet, exercise, and herbs to mindfulness meditation, chi kung, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). They also offer techniques to dispel the “brain fog” that these disorders often create and show how to overcome the resultant obstacles to effectively communicating with your doctor. The additional information included on the psychological issues that accompany these chronic pain disorders allows this integrative treatment guide to open the door not only to physical recovery but also emotional and mental well-being.
