This book was released on 2019-01-22 with total page 463 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Composed in the 1630s, Giambattista Basile’s The Tale of Tales, later known as the Pentameron, is a sophisticated, affectionate, often wicked parody of Boccaccio’s 14th century masterpiece, the Decameron, containing fifty tales within an intricate framing story. Importantly, among its stories are the earliest literary versions of famous fairy tales such as Cinderella, Rapunzel, The Sleeping Beauty and Hansel and Gretel. This is only the fourth translation of the complete text into English. With its scholarly introduction, notes, and up-to-date bibliography, it will appeal to anyone studying European literature or the fairy tale in general, its history and subsequent development, as well as anyone wishing to trace specific themes within the genre and their different treatments.

Download or read book The Collected Sicilian Folk and Fairy Tales of Giuseppe Pitr written by Jack Zipes and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-01-11 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is volume 2 of a two-volume set that collects 300 of the most entertaining and important folk and fairy tales of Giuseppe Pitré, a nineteenth century Sicilian folklorist whose significance ranks alongside the Brothers Grimm. In stark contrast to the more literary ambitions of the Grimms' tales, Pitré’s possess a charming, earthy quality that reflect the customs, beliefs, and superstitions of the common people more clearly than any other European folklore collection of the 19th century. Edited, translated, and with a critical introduction by world-renowned folk and fairy tale experts Jack Zipes and Joseph Russo, this is the first collection of Pitré’s tales available in English. Carmelo Letterer's illustrations throughout the volume are as lively and vivid as the stories themselves, illuminating the remarkable imagination captured in the tales.
Download or read book The Pizzigoni Experimental Method in Sara Bertuzzi s Diaries written by Sandra Chistolini and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2021-09-23 with total page 405 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study sheds new light on childhood education, and reveals Giuseppina Pizzigoni as a contemporary educator of Maria Montessori. While the former is almost unknown and the latter enjoys worldwide fame, both were protagonists of the profound changes in the Italian school system in the 20th century. Their lives developed in parallel, and both great women loved school, respected children, and believed in the strength of education. Pizzigoni’s disciple Sara Bertuzzi later picked up the baton, and continued the impulse of innovation, freedom, inclusion and sustainability, faithful to the features and fundaments of Pizzigoni’s pedagogy and methodology. She became the only expert in the field of the new school, and her diaries highlight the theory and practice of the experimental method in both kindergarten and preschool.

Download or read book I racconti delle fate written by Carlo Collodi and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2012-03-12 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Aonia edizioni.
