Download or read book Fertlizer Demand in Brazil Evaluation Present Situation and Perspectives written by W. A. Puggona and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 21 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The brief analysis we have made of the Brazilian fertilizer industry has indicated that it is facing a changing process, probably the most important change it has ever faced. It has also indicated that: The agriculture sector has a very important role in our economy. This role is more relevant when it is considered that the grain production should be double the present level by the year 2.000; Fertilizer demand in Brazil is being affected by underconsumption as well as by an inadequate N, P2O5, K2O ration. The farmers income has decreased as has the availability of credit; The fertilizer industry built in the last 20 years has faced the full impact of the agriculture crisis. The present demand is at the same level as it was 12 years ago and the industry operates with losses and idle capacity; The insdutry is in the edge of a changing process. The adjustment of the industry through downsizing is over and future perspectives are good; There is market potential for growth. This market potential indicates that by the year 2.000 about 5 million tons of nutrients could be reched which represents 40% over the present consumption; to reach such market potential several policies should be undertaken, emphasizing: Popular conscience; The strenght of agribusiness; Political decision; Financing policy; Ecoclogical harmony; The privatization processo of the fertilizer companies is the most relevant factor in the industry reestructuring process, as well as consisting in a way of change businessmen mentality. The privatization.

Book Agrifood System Transitions in Brazil

Download or read book Agrifood System Transitions in Brazil written by Paulo André Niederle and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-10-29 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the agrifood system transitions in Brazil to provide a new understanding of the trajectory of agriculture and rural development in this country. It accentuates the increasing diversifi cation and hybridization of food production and consumption practices throughout history. With a framework that combines convention theory, neoinstitutional approaches and practice theory, this book suggests the concept of “food orders” which represents different arrangements of practices, institutions and sociotechnical artifacts. By exploring the interrelations between these elements, the book looks at six different food orders: industrial, commercial, domestic, aesthetic, civic and fi nancial, in tandem with examples of practices, sectors and territories to understand the dynamics of each one. This aids in understanding the main tendencies of the agrifood sector in such a vast country that, being a major player in global food markets, also affect production and consumption dynamics in several other countries. Besides, this book also seeks to comprehend the current institutional changes in Brazil that may be critical to interpret the global dissemination of populist and autocratic governments. Offering key insights into the contemporary sociology of agriculture and food, this book demonstrates how strengthening democracy and supporting the organization of civil society are major challenges when we think about transition for sustainable food systems.
