Cette enquête passionnante sur les moeurs, les pratiques culturelles et l'autorité des seigneuries florissantes de la Renaissance italienne est aussi une contribution importante à l'histoire des femmes. C'est l'Italie de la première Renaissance, l'Italie des violences des hommes, mais aussi de l'humanisme naissant et de la passion pour les arts, qui est au coeur de ces trois tragédies féminines.
