This notice allows some of the required information to be placed on labels that are permanently affixed to the tire or tire assembly instead of being required to be marked into or onto the tire or tire assembly itself. The notice also provides that instead of placing certain informa tion in the owner's manual, vehicle manufacturers may instead place the information on the vehicle placard (required by Standard No. 110, Tire Selection and Rims) if the owner's manual includes a reference to this information. The notice also amends the dimensions of the tire strength test cleat. These amendments will enable manufacturers to comply more easily with the requirements Without adversely affecting safety.
