From there, they travel to Greece to meet with the ancient gods and Th emis, the oracle of Delphi. In the magical canyons of Sedona, Arizona, they seek out a wise elder with the secrets of shape-shifting, dance, and the medicine wheel. Eventually, their search takes them to Africa. Along the Zambezi River, they meet Oshun, goddess of water, who summons truth from the water itself. Miss Jay learns why she left the Dragons, who Bindi really is, and why they have been brought together. Can the friends work together on this next phase of ascension to bring through the new energy of the New Earth? Can they heal the bloodlines and balance the masculine and feminine energy? Will they ever be free, happy, and at peace?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1904, a showman and Redpath Leyceum Bureau manager named Keith Vawter, put the main forms of entertainment of the time—comedy and culture—on the same platform in a travelling tent, “marrying the respectability of the Lyceum to the spangles of the stage,” and named the union “Chautauqua,” after an institution established permanently on Chautauqua Lake, New York. For the next thirty years, Chautauqua tents rolled back and forth and up and down America, pitching in pastures, school yards and courthouse squares. “They offered not only the soaring oratory of a William Jennings Bryan, but also music, drama, magic, art lessons, cooking classes, low comedy and high-minded debates. Millions of eager listeners under the “big top” canvas, hot with summer’s sun, perspired freely and soaked up both erudition and amusement.” This book, first published in 1958, takes a close look at the movement that allowed men to talk freely from this new informal platform, abandoning nineteenth-century taboos.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first famous transgender person in the United States, Christine Jorgensen, traveled to Denmark for gender reassignment surgery in 1952. Jorgensen became famous during the ascent of postwar dreams about the possibilities for technology to transform humanity and the world. In Mobile Subjects Aren Z. Aizura examines transgender narratives within global health and tourism economies from 1952 to the present. Drawing on an archive of trans memoirs and documentaries as well as ethnographic fieldwork with trans people obtaining gender reassignment surgery in Thailand, Aizura maps the uneven use of medical protocols to show how national and regional health care systems and labor economies contribute to and limit transnational mobility. Aizura positions transgender travel as a form of biomedical tourism, examining how understandings of race, gender, and aesthetics shape global cosmetic surgery cultures and how economic and racially stratified marketing and care work create the ideal transgender subject as an implicitly white, global citizen. In so doing, he shows how understandings of travel and mobility depend on the historical architectures of colonialism and contemporary patterns of global consumption and labor.

Book Understanding Jos Donoso

Download or read book Understanding Jos Donoso written by Sharon Magnarelli and published by Univ of South Carolina Press. This book was released on 1993 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chilean writer José Donoso is one of a handful of authors inevitably mentioned in relationship to the 'boom' in Spanish American literature during the 1960s and 1970s. His name is frequently linked with those of other Latin writers such as García Márquez, Vargas Llosa, Fuentes, Rulfo, and Cortázar. Like his contemporaries, Donoso blends the physical and the psychological in his fiction. The perceptions of his characters are constantly changing. For Donoso, 'reality' is a state of mind always subject to the imagination, and nothing is stable.
