Book Feasibility Assessment for a Horizontal Directionally Drilled Crossing of Unnamed Channel RPR 005 on the Taglu Lateral Conceptual and Preliminary Engineering for Mackenzie Gas Project

Download or read book Feasibility Assessment for a Horizontal Directionally Drilled Crossing of Unnamed Channel RPR 005 on the Taglu Lateral Conceptual and Preliminary Engineering for Mackenzie Gas Project written by and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Mackenzie Gas Project (the project) proponents plan to construct a pipeline across Unnamed Channel RPR-005 within the Mackenzie Delta. The crossing is located at KP-T4.9 of the proposed NPS 26 Taglu lateral. The proposed installation method is horizontal directional drilling (HDD). The site soils, based on geological assessments and local boreholes, consist of frozen silt and sand beyond the channel and either frozen or unfrozen silt and sand below the channel. The site soils are considered suitable for HDD. Problematic soils for HDD, such as coarse gravels or fractured bedrock, are not expected to be present. Based on the local topography, site soils, and a proposed HDD profile, it is considered feasible to install the Unnamed Channel RPR-005 crossing using HDD. Additional field investigations might be completed to verify the site soils, ice contents, and permafrost conditions along the planned drilling path. The additional data would be used to further assess the proposed drilling path and the need for surface casing. Also, acceptable mud disposal options will be reviewed further before construction"--P. i.

This book was released on 2006 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Mackenzie Gas Project (the project} proponents plan to construct a pipeline across the Harry Channel within the Mackenzie Delta. The crossing is located at KP-T1.5 of the proposed NPS 26 Taglu lateral. The proposed installation method is horizontal directional drilling (HDD). The HDD crossing will also cross Unnamed Channel RPR-001 located about 200 m north of Harry Channel and Unnamed Waterbody RPR-002.1, located about 230 m south. The site soils, based on geological assessments and local boreholes, consist of frozen silt and sand beyond the two channels and unfrozen silt and sand below the two channels. The site soils are considered suitable for HDD. Problematic soils for HDD, such as coarse gravels or fractured bedrock, are not expected to be present. Based on the local topography, site soils, and a proposed HDD profile, it is considered feasible to install the Harry Channel crossing using HDD. Book Feasibility Assessment for a Horizontal Directionally Drilled Crossing of the Mackenzie River

Download or read book Feasibility Assessment for a Horizontal Directionally Drilled Crossing of the Mackenzie River written by Ray Boivin and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Mackenzie Gas Project (the project) proponents plan to construct an NPS 30 gas pipeline across the Mackenzie River near Fort Simpson. The crossing is located at kilometre post KP-976.4 of the proposed Mackenzie Valley pipeline. The proposed installation method is horizontal directional drilling (HDD). Site soils, based on a preliminary geological assessment and a limited number of local boreholes, are expected to consist mainly of unfrozen gravel over unfrozen till over bedrock below the Mackenzie River, and mainly sandy gravel or gravelly sand over till over bedrock beyond the river. However, the depth to bedrock is not known. Most soils are expected to have little excess ice content. The site soils are considered suitable for HDD. Problematic soils for HDD, such as thick, coarse gravels or heavily fractured bedrock, are not expected to be present. Based on the local topography, site soils and the proposed HDD profile, it is considered feasible to install the Mackenzie River crossing using HDD. Additional field investigations are planned to be completed along the planned drilling path to further assess the soil types and their properties. The additional data will be used to reassess the proposed drilling path and to identify the need for surface casing. Acceptable mud disposal options will also be investigated further before the pipeline is constructed" -- leaf i.

Book Feasibility Assessment for Horizontal Directionally Drilled Crossings of the Hare Indian River

Download or read book Feasibility Assessment for Horizontal Directionally Drilled Crossings of the Hare Indian River written by ColtKBR and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Mackenzie Gas Project (the project) proponents plan to construct a gas pipeline and a natural gas liquids pipeline across the Hare Indian River. The crossing is located at KP-309.8 of the proposed NPS 30 Mackenzie Valley pipeline. The proposed installation method for the pipelines, using two separate bores, is horizontal directional drilling (HDD). The site soils, based on geological assessments and local boreholes, consist of sand, silt and clay within the valley slopes and gravel and limestone below the river channel. The site soils are considered suitable for HDD. Problematic soils for an HDD, such as thick, coarse gravels or fractured bedrock, have not been encountered in field investigations completed to date. Based on the local topography, site soils and a proposed HDD profile, it is considered feasible to install the Hare Indian River crossings using HDD. Additional field investigations might be completed to check for the presence of ice lenses and to gather additional detail on the bedrock depth and properties along the planned drilling path. The additional data will be used to further assess the proposed drilling path and the need for surface casing. Also, acceptable mud disposal options will be investigated further before the crossings are constructed" -- leaf i.

Book Feasibility Assessment for a Horizontal Directionally Drilled Crossing of the Blackwater River

Download or read book Feasibility Assessment for a Horizontal Directionally Drilled Crossing of the Blackwater River written by ColtKBR and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Mackenzie Gas Project (the project) proponents plan to construct a gas pipeline across the Blackwater River. The crossing is located at KP-677.1 of the proposed NPS 30 Mackenzie Valley pipeline. The proposed installation method is horizontal directional drilling (HDD). Site soils, based on geological assessments and local boreholes, are expected to consist mainly of unfrozen gravel and cobbles over bedrock below the Blackwater River. Beyond the river, the soil is expected to be mainly sandy gravel or gravelly sand over bedrock, with possibly a separating till layer. Most soils are expected to have little or no excess ice content. Problematic soils for HDD, such as thick, coarse gravels with cobbles and boulders are expected to be present in the floodplain section. Provided that the depth to bedrock is not excessive, the site soils are considered suitable for HDD. Based on the local topography and a confirmation of the depth to bedrock, an HDD profile below the Blackwater River crossing can be designed that is feasible to install. Additional field investigations will be completed to further assess the: thickness and extent of the coarse granular soils; type and properties of the expected bedrock at depth. The additional data would be used to refine and optimize the currently proposed drill path and to identify the need for, and length of, surface casing. Acceptable mud disposal options will also be investigated further before construction. If the additional soils data indicate that an HDD crossing is not feasible, an alternative open-cut method of pipe installation will be required" -- leaf i.

Book excerpt: The twelfth-century French poet Chrétien de Troyes is a major figure in European literature. His courtly romances fathered the Arthurian tradition and influenced countless other poets in England as well as on the continent. Yet because of the difficulty of capturing his swift-moving style in translation, English-speaking audiences are largely unfamiliar with the pleasures of reading his poems. Now, for the first time, an experienced translator of medieval verse who is himself a poet provides a translation of Chrétien’s major poem, Yvain, in verse that fully and satisfyingly captures the movement, the sense, and the spirit of the Old French original. Yvain is a courtly romance with a moral tenor; it is ironic and sometimes bawdy; the poetry is crisp and vivid. In addition, the psychological and the socio-historical perceptions of the poem are of profound literary and historical importance, for it evokes the emotions and the values of a flourishing, vibrant medieval past.
