Book Fault tolerant Routing Algorithm in Meshes with Solid Faults

Download or read book Fault tolerant Routing Algorithm in Meshes with Solid Faults written by Jong-Hoon Youn and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 15 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A fault-tolerant routing method that can tolerate solid faults using only two virtual channels is presented. The proposed routing algorithm not only uses a fewer number of virtual channels but also tolerates f-chains in the meshes. It is shown that the proposed algorithm is deadlock-free and livelock-free in meshes when it has nonoverlapping multiple f-regions.

Book Simula Research Laboratory

Download or read book Simula Research Laboratory written by Aslak Tveito and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-10-22 with total page 651 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When researchers gather around lunch tables, at conferences, or in bars, there are some topics that are more or less compulsory. The discussions are about the ho- less management of the university or the lab where they are working, the lack of funding for important research, politicians’ inability to grasp the potential of a p- ticularly promising ?eld, and the endless series of committees that seem to produce very little progress. It is common to meet excellent researchers claiming that they have almost no time to do research because writing applications, lecturing, and - tending to committee work seem to take most of their time. Very few ever come into a position to do something about it. With Simula we have this chance. We were handed a considerable annual grant and more or less left to ourselves to do whatever we thought would produce the best possible results. We wanted to create a place where researchers could have the time and conditions necessary to re?ect over dif?cult problems, uninterrupted by mundane dif?culties; where doctoral students could be properly supervised and learn the craft of research in a well-organized and professional manner; and where entrepreneurs could ?nd professional support in developing their research-based - plications and innovations.

Book Built in Fault Tolerant Computing Paradigm for Resilient Large Scale Chip Design

Download or read book Built in Fault Tolerant Computing Paradigm for Resilient Large Scale Chip Design written by Xiaowei Li and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-03-01 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the end of Dennard scaling and Moore’s law, IC chips, especially large-scale ones, now face more reliability challenges, and reliability has become one of the mainstay merits of VLSI designs. In this context, this book presents a built-in on-chip fault-tolerant computing paradigm that seeks to combine fault detection, fault diagnosis, and error recovery in large-scale VLSI design in a unified manner so as to minimize resource overhead and performance penalties. Following this computing paradigm, we propose a holistic solution based on three key components: self-test, self-diagnosis and self-repair, or “3S” for short. We then explore the use of 3S for general IC designs, general-purpose processors, network-on-chip (NoC) and deep learning accelerators, and present prototypes to demonstrate how 3S responds to in-field silicon degradation and recovery under various runtime faults caused by aging, process variations, or radical particles. Moreover, we demonstrate that 3S not only offers a powerful backbone for various on-chip fault-tolerant designs and implementations, but also has farther-reaching implications such as maintaining graceful performance degradation, mitigating the impact of verification blind spots, and improving chip yield. This book is the outcome of extensive fault-tolerant computing research pursued at the State Key Lab of Processors, Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences over the past decade. The proposed built-in on-chip fault-tolerant computing paradigm has been verified in a broad range of scenarios, from small processors in satellite computers to large processors in HPCs. Hopefully, it will provide an alternative yet effective solution to the growing reliability challenges for large-scale VLSI designs.

Download or read book Network on Chip written by Isiaka Alimi and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2022-04-06 with total page 111 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Limitations of bus-based interconnections related to scalability, latency, bandwidth, and power consumption for supporting the related huge number of on-chip resources result in a communication bottleneck. These challenges can be efficiently addressed with the implementation of a network-on-chip (NoC) system. This book gives a detailed analysis of various on-chip communication architectures and covers different areas of NoCs such as potentials, architecture, technical challenges, optimization, design explorations, and research directions. In addition, it discusses current and future trends that could make an impactful and meaningful contribution to the research and design of on-chip communications and NoC systems.

Book Multi Core Embedded Systems

Download or read book Multi Core Embedded Systems written by Georgios Kornaros and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-08 with total page 502 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Details a real-world product that applies a cutting-edge multi-core architecture Increasingly demanding modern applications—such as those used in telecommunications networking and real-time processing of audio, video, and multimedia streams—require multiple processors to achieve computational performance at the rate of a few giga-operations per second. This necessity for speed and manageable power consumption makes it likely that the next generation of embedded processing systems will include hundreds of cores, while being increasingly programmable, blending processors and configurable hardware in a power-efficient manner. Multi-Core Embedded Systems presents a variety of perspectives that elucidate the technical challenges associated with such increased integration of homogeneous (processors) and heterogeneous multiple cores. It offers an analysis that industry engineers and professionals will need to understand the physical details of both software and hardware in embedded architectures, as well as their limitations and potential for future growth. Discusses the available programming models spread across different abstraction levels The book begins with an overview of the evolution of multiprocessor architectures for embedded applications and discusses techniques for autonomous power management of system-level parameters. It addresses the use of existing open-source (and free) tools originating from several application domains—such as traffic modeling, graph theory, parallel computing and network simulation. In addition, the authors cover other important topics associated with multi-core embedded systems, such as: Architectures and interconnects Embedded design methodologies Mapping of applications

Book New Fault Tolerant Routing Algorithms for K Ary N Cube Networks

Download or read book New Fault Tolerant Routing Algorithms for K Ary N Cube Networks written by jehad alsadi and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2011-03 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis proposes two new limited global- information-based fault-tolerant routing algorithms for k-ary n-cubes, namely the unsafety vectors algorithm and the probability vectors algorithm. While the first algorithm uses a deterministic approach, which has been widely employed by other existing algorithms, the second algorithm is the first that uses probability-based fault-tolerant routing. These two algorithms have two important advantages over those already existing in the relevant literature. Both algorithms ensure fault- tolerance under relaxed assumptions, regarding the number of faulty nodes and their locations in the network. Furthermore, the new algorithms are more general in that they can easily be adapted to different topologies, including those that belong to the family of k-ary n-cubes.
