Book Computer Science and Multiple Valued Logic

Download or read book Computer Science and Multiple Valued Logic written by David C. Rine and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-12 with total page 563 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computer Science and Multiple-Valued Logic: Theory and Applications focuses on the processes, methodologies, and approaches involved in multiple-valued logic and its relationship to computer science. The selection first tackles an introduction to multiple-valued logic, lattice theory of post algebras, multiple-valued logic design and applications in binary computers, smallest many-valued logic for the treatment of complemented and uncomplemented error signals, and chain based lattices. Discussions focus on formulation, representation theory, theory and circuit design, logical tables, and unary operations. The text then examines multiple-valued signal processing with limiting, development of multiple-valued logic as related to computer science, p-algebras, and an algorithm for axiomatizing every finite logic. The book takes a look at completeness properties of multiple-valued logic algebras, computer simplification of multi-valued switching functions, and minimization of multivalued functions. Topics include generation of prime implicants, realizations, minimization algorithms, decomposition algorithm for multi-valued switching functions, and relation between the sum-of-products form and array of cubes. The selection is aimed at computer engineers, computer scientists, applied mathematicians, and physicists interested in multiple-valued logic as the discipline relates to computer engineering and computer science.

Book Fault Diagnosis and Fault Tolerance

Download or read book Fault Diagnosis and Fault Tolerance written by Tinghuai Chen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the rapid growth of integration scale of VLSI chips and the present need for reliable computers in space exploration, fault diagnosis and fault toleran ce have become more important than before, and hence reveal a lot of interest ing topics which attract many researchers to make a great number of contribu tions to this field. In recent years, many new and significant results have been achieved. A quick scan over the proceedings of the conferences on fault tolerant computing and design automation as well as on testing will convince the reader of that. But unfortunately these achievements have not been entire ly reflected in the textbooks, so that there seems to be a gap for the new researcher who already has the basic knowledge and wants to begin research in this area. As a remedy for this deficiency, this book is intended for begin ners, especially graduate students, as a textbook which will lead them to the frontier of some branches of the fault-tolerant computing field. The first chapter introduces the four-valued logic B4 and its applica tions. In 1966 Roth first proposed this four-valued logic as a technique to generate tests for logical circuits, but this work did not concern the mathe matical basis of B4 itself.

Book The Design of Fault Detection Experiments for Sequential Machines Using Homogeneous Distinguishing Sequences

Download or read book The Design of Fault Detection Experiments for Sequential Machines Using Homogeneous Distinguishing Sequences written by John Douglas Holt and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The design of checking experiments for sequential machines which do not initially have a distinguishing sequence is investigated. Improvem, Jnts are suggested to an existing method for augmenting the output logic so that the machine acquires homogeneous distinguishing sequences. To indicate how the procedure may be implemented on a computer, elements of graph theory are applied to the design steps. A systematic process for the construction of the checking experiment using homogeneous distinguishing sequences is described. Upper and lower bounds for each segment of the experiment are derived.

Book Fault Detection on Sequential Machines

Download or read book Fault Detection on Sequential Machines written by Chung-tao David Wang and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This paper presents an algorithm for deriving an optimum test sequence for detecting faults in a synchronous machine. In this study, the flow table is used as a tool to generate the fault detection tests. The fault stuck-at-1 (or stuck-at-0) is said to be present when a permanent signal valued 1 (or 0) appears on a component of the machine. Only single faults are treated . The result of the procedure is one or more test sequences guaranteed to detect a set of faults (F [subscript p]). First, sequential machines with feedback lines as memory elements are considered . Then the memory elements are changed to R-S flip-flops. Finally, several suggestions for further work are made"--Abstract, leaf ii.
