Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Fats and Oils Situation, Vol. 202: May 1960 Output of food fats during april-september, the second half of the 1959-60 season, will decline seasonally but is expected to be about the same as last year. An increase over last year for cottonseed Oil and a slight increase for butter will make up for the decline in lard. Little change is expected in soybean oil production. During the first half of the current marketing year, production of food fats was 9 percent greater than a year earlier. The gain mainly reflected sharp increases in cottonseed Oil and lard. Domestic disappearance of food fats during the first 6 months of the present marketing year was at a record level, and about 1 percent above a year ago. Increases for margarine and shortening slightly more than Offset de clines in butter, direct use of lard and salad and cooking Oils. As usual, domestic use of food fats will decline seasonally during april-september, but probably will not differ much from last year's level. Advances in prices for imported items were less pronounced than those for domestic items, and in the case of edible olive oil a slight decline was registered. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Fats and Oils Situation, Vol. 64: June 1942 A slackening of demand, the first sign of weakness in several months, was noted_in May and early June in wholesale markets for fats and oils. Hath maximum wholesale and retail prices now in effect, there is little incentive for dealers and industrial and institutional consumers to main tain inventories of finished goods beyond normal needs. Some liquidation of excess inventories of finished fats and oils apparently is taking place, vdth a consequent decline in sales by manufacturers. Book The Fats and Oils Situation Vol 174

Download or read book The Fats and Oils Situation Vol 174 written by United States Department Of Agriculture and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-03-18 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Fats and Oils Situation, Vol. 174: Sept. 26, 1955 Supplies of food fats in the marketing year beginning October 1, 1955 will be about as large as the year before with increased output offsetting a sharp reduction in beginning stocks. Pore soybean oil and lard will be produced since the 1955 soybean crop is the largest of record and slaughter of hogs is increasing. However, cottonseed oil production will be down because of the 7 percent reduction in the 1955 cotton crop. Prices received by farmers for 1955 crop cottonseed probably will average above the CCC purchase price of $112 per ton, basis grade but less than the 660 received for the 1951; crop. Prices of cottonseed oil and meal are down from a year ago and are expected to continue lower than a year ago at least through the winter. Production of peanuts is up 65 percent from the small cr0p in 19511 and supplies in 1955-56 again will be plentiful in contrast with the year before. CCC will acquire a substantial quantity and prices are likely to average near the support program loan value. This book was released on 2018-03-25 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Fats and Oils Situation, Vol. 204: September 1960 Early September conditions indicate that the total U. S. Supply of edible fats, oils, and oilseeds during the 1960-61 marketing year begin ning October 1 will be about lu.l billion pounds (oil equivalent of oilseeds), just billion pounds less than the record quantity available during the year just ending. Smaller supplies of lard and possibly fewer soybeans than a year ago are expected to more than offset the small increase in prospect for cottonseed oil and butter. The U. S. Disappearance of food fats is expected to increase with population by over billion pounds. These prospects indicate that the quantity of edible oils, lard, and soy beans available for export in 1960-61, while billion pounds less than last year's availabilities, will be nearly as large as the record bil lion pounds estimated to have actually been shipped abroad in 1959-60. Thus it appears that exportable supplies and export demand will be in close balance in 1960 - 61. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. This book was released on 2018-03-18 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Fats and Oils Situation, Vol. 123: January-April 1948 Supply prospects indicate that prices of edible and soap fats and oils ln' the rest of 1948 are likely to average at least as high as in March if general business activity does not decline. March prices of these fats, excluding butter, averaged about _5 percent below 1947. Prices of drying oils in March were about 15 percent below the 1947 average. Since supplies of drying oils probably will continue relatively plentiful, their prices are likely to continue lower than in 1947. The price of linseed oil is near the support level specified in CCC contracts with crushers for the 1947 flaxseed crop. In March 1948, the index of wholesale prices of 26 major fats and oils, excluding butter, was 265 (1935 - 39 100) compared with 261 a month earlier and an average of 285 for the year 1947. Coconut oil prices were unusually high in March in' relation to prices of edible oils. And soap fats. In early April, prices of edible vegetable oils advanced sharply. Production of animal fats during the rest of 1948 is likely to be below a year earlier. Cattle slaughter, in relation to a year earlier, has been declining since la st October. The number of cattle on feed in the Corn Belt on April 1 was 25 percent less than last year. Hog slaughter since September 1947 has totaled slightly more than a year earlier and probably will be about as large this spring as in the spring of 1947. However, a decline in hog slaughter is expected next summer and fall. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Download or read book The Fats and Oils Situation Vol 179 written by U. S. Agricultural Marketing Service and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-09-09 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Fats and Oils Situation, Vol. 179: July 24, 1956 Supplies of food fats other than butter in the marketing year beginning on October 1, 1956 will be almost as large as this year's record quantity, according to July 1 indications. Production is expected to be about the same (assuming average growing conditions for soybeans, and cottonseed yields per acre about equal to the average of the past 3 years) but begin ning stocks of edible oils probably will be smaller. Sizable cuts in lard and cottonseed oil output are likely to be offset by record quantities of soybeans for crushing and export. Consumption of food fats per person probably will continue at about the 1955-56 rate. With the population growing, total consumption will be up. This indicates that the quantity of edible oils, lard and soybeans available for export in 1956-57 will be around 15 percent below the huge 1955-56 total of billion pounds but still above any other year. About 2 billion of the 1955-56 total will consist of sales for dollars, including some quanti ties financed by International Cooperation Administration authorizations. The rest is going out under Public Law 1480 programs. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
