Book Elevated temperature Fatigue Properties of Two Titanium Alloys

Download or read book Elevated temperature Fatigue Properties of Two Titanium Alloys written by William K. Rey and published by . This book was released on 1956 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An investigation was conducted to evaluate the unnotched fatigue properties of 3Mn Complex and 3Al-5Cr titanium alloys at elevated temperatures. Fatigue studies were conducted for each alloy at room temperature, 200, 400, 600, 800, and 1,000 degrees F. The results are presented in tabular form and as curves of stress versus cycles to failure for each test temperature. The endurance strength at 10,000,000 cycles for the 3Mn Complex alloy decreased from 79,000 psi at room temperature to 26,500 psi at 1,000 degrees F. The endurance strength at 10,000,000 cycles for the 3Al-5Cr alloy decreased from 91,000 psi at room temperature to 46,500 psi at 1,000 degrees F. The decrease in endurance strength with an increase in temperature is shown by a curve of endurance strength versus temperature for each alloy.

Book Mechanical and Thermal Properties of High temperature Titanium Alloys

Download or read book Mechanical and Thermal Properties of High temperature Titanium Alloys written by Clifford L. Dotson and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this program was to obtain preliminary mechanical- and thermal-property design data on some of the newer titanium alloys. Three sheet alloys (Ti-5A1-5Sn-5Zr, Ti-5A1-5Sn-5Zr-1Mo-1V, and Ti-6A1-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo) and two bar alloys (Ti-5A1-5Sn-5Zr and Ti-679) were studied. Results of the tests show that the new Ti-6A1-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo sheet alloy has well-balanced properties; with short-time strength at all temperatures comparable to or higher than those of other alpha-beta alloys and higher long-time strength (creep) than other alpha-beta alloys to which it was compared. The Ti-679 bar alloy also exhibited generally high strength over the temperature range (70 to 1000 F) at which properties were studied.

Book Titanium and Titanium Alloys

Download or read book Titanium and Titanium Alloys written by Christoph Leyens and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2006-03-06 with total page 532 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook is an excellent reference for materials scientists and engineers needing to gain more knowledge about these engineering materials. Following introductory chapters on the fundamental materials properties of titanium, readers will find comprehensive descriptions of the development, processing and properties of modern titanium alloys. There then follows detailed discussion of the applications of titanium and its alloys in aerospace, medicine, energy and automotive technology.

Book Fatigue of Beta Processed and Beta Heat treated Titanium Alloys

Download or read book Fatigue of Beta Processed and Beta Heat treated Titanium Alloys written by Russell Wanhill and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-10-28 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication reviews most of the available literature on the fatigue properties of β annealed Ti-6Al-4V and titanium alloys with similar microstructures. The focus is on β processed and β heat-treated alloys because β annealed Ti-6Al-4V has been selected for highly loaded and fatigue-critical structures, including the main wing-carry-through bulkheads and vertical tail stubs, of advanced high-performance military aircraft. An important aspect of the review is a concise survey of fatigue life assessment methods and the required types of fatigue data. This survey provides the background to recommendations for further research, especially on the fatigue behaviour of β annealed Ti-6Al-4V under realistic fatigue load histories, including the essential topic of short/small fatigue crack growth. Such research is required for independent fatigue life assessments that conform to the aircraft manufacturer’s design requirements, and also for life reassessments that most probably will have to be made during the service life of the aircraft.
