Download or read book Fate and Destiny in Islam written by Frankie Anderson and published by . This book was released on 2020-04-21 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Can the apple fall far from the tree? This book defines and distinguishes between fate and destiny in Islam. The false idea of predestination in Islam has been used to convince people that everything is decreed, which makes the idea of oversight somewhat acceptable and taking responsibility a non-existing concept. Fate and destiny in Islam are explained in this book based on the Quran, which Muslims believe is the word of God (Allah) that was revealed to the prophet Muhammad through the angel Gabriel. This book addresses the following five questions: What is fate? What is destiny? Is everything pre-destined? If so, then why were we created with choice? Can we change destiny? Can prayer change destiny

Book Islam and the Destiny of Man

Download or read book Islam and the Destiny of Man written by Charles Le Gai Eaton and published by SUNY Press. This book was released on 1985-09-30 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Islam and the Destiny of Man by Charles Le Gai Eaton is a wide-ranging study of the Muslim religion from a unique point of view. The author, a former member of the British Diplomatic Service, was brought up as an agnostic and embraced Islam at an early age after writing a book (commissioned by T.S. Eliot) on Eastern religions and their influence upon Western thinkers. As a Muslim he has retained his adherence to the perennial philosophy which, he maintains, underlies the teachings of all the great religions. The aim of this book is to explore what it means to be a Muslim, a member of a community which embraces a quarter of the world’s population and to describe the forces which have shaped the hearts and the minds of Islamic people. After considering the historic confrontation between Islam and Christendom and analysing the difference between the three monotheistic faiths (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam), the author describes the two poles of Muslim belief in terms of ‘Truth’ and ‘Mercy’—the unitarian truth which is the basis of the Muslim’s faith and the mercy inherent in this truth. In the second part of the book he explains the significance of the Qur’an and tells the dramatic story of Muhammad’s life and of the early Caliphate. Lastly, the author considers the Muslim view of man’s destiny, the social structure of Islam, the role of art and mysticism and the inner meaning of Islamic teaching concerning the hereafter. Throughout this book the author is concerned not with the religion of Islam in isolation, but with the very nature of religious faith, its spiritual and intellectual foundations, and the light it casts upon the mysteries and paradoxes of the human condition.

Download or read book Man and His Destiny written by Murtaza Mutahhari and published by . This book was released on 2019-05-24 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The question of fate and destiny is a philosophical question, and should normally be looked for in the books of philosophy. However, in this book it has been taken out of its proper context and grouped with questions which are neither connected with regard to its subject nor with its object of its study. Here this question is being studied under the heading of "The causes of the decline of the Muslims". This heading includes various subjects, events and questions, namely historical, psychological, moral, social and religious. The only link which binds these subjects together is their positive or negative effects on the progress and the decline of the Muslim society. The aim here is to see whether a belief in destiny as required by philosophical reasoning is one of those ideas which lead its adherents to lethargy. Are the believers automatically dragged to decline and decay or is it a doctrine which has no ill effect if it is expounded in a sound manner. Here we will see how Islam has presented this question and with what effect on its followers.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drawing on the science and mathematics of infinity, H. Chris Ransford analyzes the traditional concept of godhood and reaches surprising conclusions. He addresses humankind's abiding core debate on the meaning of spirituality and God. Using mathematics, he explores key questions within this debate: for instance, why does evil exist if there is a God? The book fastidiously does not take sides nor proffers opinions, it only follows allowable mathematics wherever it leads. By doing so, it makes a major contribution to an understanding of the nature of reality.

A teenager in pre-revolutionary Tehran, Massoumeh is an average girl, passionate about learning. On her way to school she meets a local man and falls in love, but when her family discovers his letters they accuse her of bringing them dishonour. She is badly beaten by her brother, and her parents hastily arrange for her to marry a man she’s never met. Facing a life without love, and the prospect of no education, Massoumeh is distraught, but a female neighbour urges her to comply: "We each have a destiny, and you can’t fight yours." The years that follow Massoumeh’s wedding prove transformative for Iran. Hamid, Massoumeh’s husband, is a political dissident and a threat to the Shah’s regime. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A timely anthology that explores power, privilege, and oppression and their relationship to marginalized bodies Asserting that the body is the main site of oppression in Western society, the contributors to this pioneering volume explore the complex issue of embodiment and how it relates to social inclusion and marginalization. In a culture where bodies of people who are brown, black, female, transgender, disabled, fat, or queer are often shamed, sexualized, ignored, and oppressed, what does it mean to live in a marginalized body? Through theory, personal narrative, and artistic expression, this anthology explores how power, privilege, oppression, and attempted disembodiment play out on the bodies of disparaged individuals and what happens when the body’s expression is stereotyped and stunted. Bringing together a range of voices, this book offers strategies and practices for embodiment and activism and considers what it means to be an embodied ally to anyone experiencing bodily oppression.
