Her story goes from childhood to adulthood and the challenges she faced trying to figure out how God played a role in her life. After tragically losing two younger sisters-one to sickness, and the other to murder-in addition to experiencing sexual and physical abuse, she made the decision to surrender her life to Christ and return to the church. She shares how her life was transformed by her faith, and the lessons she learned along her journey. She also shares how her life is enriched by new relationships within the church, and how it inspires her spiritual growth. She encourages her readers to try faith. It began with my growing up in a small town in eastern Massachusetts where a caring community surrounded you every day and everywhere. Then on to college and marriage where I began my career. Over the years, our family moved several times to new places in different states. At each stop, we met new people, formed new friendships, and lived through all of the experiences of life, individually and as a family. Everywhere we moved, we were blessed to receive the love and care of God's church through being embraced by and accepted into nurturing and loving faith communities. God's light and love held us together all along the way. We'll share with you some of our true-life accounts of faith, family, and relationships from each of those locations. You'll read about wins and losses, successes and setbacks, challenges and perseverance, and about love-family love shared in some amazing ways-and God's love shared with us every step of the way. Learn about my call from God and how I finally answered it in an amazing sequence of events that unfolded successfully with God's help. I hope you'll find some helpful thoughts from the accounts and reflections in this book that will help you in your journey through life. We live in a time of heightened anxiety and uncertainty. Some say our future is in doubt. I have five amazing grandchildren. Read this book and see if you agree with my assessment: "I'm confident about our future because I'm certain about our children and our grandchildren." I would offer this word to you today: Uplift your family in prayer as you uphold them in God's love. Be there for each other. All of our life's journeys continue. I'd love to hear how yours is going, who have you met, what have you learned, and what will you be sharing with your grandchildren. Contact Jeff at: [email protected]

Book Your Story Matters

Download or read book Your Story Matters written by Leslie Leyland Fields and published by NavPress. This book was released on 2020-04-07 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Your Story Matters presents a dynamic and spiritually formative process for understanding and redeeming the past in order to live well in the present and into the future. Leslie Leyland Fields has used and taught this practical and inspiring writing process for decades, helping people from all walks of life to access memory and sift through the truth of their stories. This is not just a book for writers. Each one of us has a story, and understanding God's work in our stories is a vital part of our faith. Through the spiritual practice of writing, we can "remember" his acts among us, "declare his glory among the nations," and pass on to others what we have witnessed of God in this life: the mysterious, the tragic, the miraculous, the ordinary. With a companion video curriculum from RightNow Media, this is a "why not" book as opposed to a "how to" book. Leslie asks each of us an important question: "Why not learn to tell your story, in the context of the grander story of God?"

Book Walking Through Life By Faith Devotional Book

Download or read book Walking Through Life By Faith Devotional Book written by Travis S. Holmes and published by . This book was released on 2021-04-29 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was written from the perspective of life is a journey. The journey is about learning to take one step at a time. Taking one step day by day is a testament to putting our faith, trust, and commitment in the Lord. The scripture declares that "the Lord orders the steps of a good man". (Psalm 37:23) Our life is ordered by the Lord, but we must learn and understand that we make choices that altars the path that God has already predestinated for us to travel. The journey of walking through life is essential a faith walk. The book is basely about understanding and applying our faith to our life every day. There is a phase in "The Bible" that states, "the just shall walk by faith and not by sight". (II Corinthians 5:7) We must continue and constantly develop and strengthen the inner to lead and guide us down the right roads in life. This inner man is called, "the intention of our hearts and minds". It is more than just having a gut feeling, but the gut feeling is listening and obeying the voice of the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us into all truth. My hope and prayer are that the reader will continue to grow, develop, and mature into believer that lives his/her life by faith, trust, and love for the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Book It s a Faith Walk

  • Author : Sheila Holm
  • Publisher : CreateSpace

  • Pages : 320 pages

Download or read book It s a Faith Walk written by Sheila Holm and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2014-02-15 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It's A Faith Walk is a timely and urgent call to awaken the hearts of every Christian to grab God's hand and go forth on a Faith Walk with our Lord, and inspire and encourage fellow Faith Walkers so God's specific purpose predestined for you, to fulfill upon in your lifetime, shall be realized in your lifetime. Bishop George Dallas McKinney It's A Faith Walk is a journey God orchestrated after preparing me enough to get out of the whale Jonah found himself in so I could experience living in awe and wonder each step of the way. Since God started with a card-carrying, pew-warming, protestant denominational gal, there was a lot of preparation which needed to take place! God's training prior to being sent did not stop when God orchestrated travel since I was sent 'without an extra coin or tunic' and God arranged personal introductions before I arrived and confirmed plans after I showed up, plus, there was a lot of 'on the job training' and 'filling me as an empty vessel' with exact words precisely when they were needed. Like many who have asked me, I wanted to see the signs, wonders and miracles. I did not realize it was my limited human understanding which was blocking the experience! Before the journey, my prayer requests were merely words about what I want God to do. Sad, but I was focused upon exactly what and how I expected God to proceed, to 'get it done and also do it all for me.' I never saw my prayers from God's perspective. As soon as I did, everything I had prayed up to that point sounded lame. Not an easy realization to comprehend. God had to show me that we do not know his word or that his promises are true, so we are not able to begin to comprehend the glorious things God has 'in store for us.' We have a very limited, human view of our life. I pray that changes for God has a God sized view of our life. His plans for us are big. It is painful to hear so many people state the church, the body of Christ, is still in the pre-toddler phase and not walking yet, only hoping to hear a good word on Sunday that will carry the people through the week. I trust this is why God has shown me how much he has planned for us and why we need to operate as bible based and spirit-filled believers. The first time I heard that, I did not know the difference between the churches. Without God's guidance, we lack the ability to comprehend or act on God's plan for our life. I pray you will lean on God's word and the guidance of the Holy Spirit and not on your own understanding. A dear man of God told me he asked God to show him “Who is this woman?” God's vision of me showed how the mouse is to the elephant (body of Christ). I was so persistent, shouting for the elephant to move, but, I was ignored. Plus, during all attempts while I was biting on the back ankles, swinging on the tail and shouting, “Move,” even as I ran to the left ear, bit the ear and shouted. But, I would not stop there. I ran to the right ear, bit the ear many times and shouted until the elephant took the first step. God showed him my effort caused the body to move. Encouraged, since I have met with many leaders in the body and I've shared God's deep concerns about the body not being equipped and trained so we can grow to maturity. We are to be wise as serpents. Not to participate with them, merely to know what they are doing. Example: Check with spell check. It only recognizes demonizing or demonized not discipling or discipled. As the body of Christ, we have a lot of work to do! God has been clear, we need to be equipped and trained to faith walk as an Ambassador of our Lord Jesus Christ! May the words I share based upon all God has shown to me, bless and encourage you to go on a faith walk with God walking in power in authority utilizing your gifts, talents, skills and abilities to bless the people God directs you to. Then, share your testimony with me and all in the world who have ears to hear. Sheila Holm
