Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Exploring the meaning of a Buddhist story, this book is a testimony of faith in the urgent relevance of India's spiritual traditions to the future of life on Earth, and it is an inquiry into the meaning of some central notions of these traditions. The value of spiritual traditions and of life itself is at stake here. In the Introduction, Ramchandra Gandhi raises the Ayodhya issue to international and universal levels. In the text, he offers a solution on the local and national levels. The temple mound in Ayodhya --the sacred hill on which the present Babri Masjid was built, also known as "Sita's Kitchen"--was originally a sacred place of the Adivasis (the aboriginal inhabitants of the subcontinent). It was sacred to the Goddess, the great nurturing earth, the fecund source of all life, the aboriginal presupposition of all later religions. As an aboriginal place sacred to the Mother Goddess, the hill in Ayodhya brings together all religions. Rather than a source of conflict, Ayodhya should become a meeting ground for the divergent religious traditions of the world to see their ultimate harmony. In the Buddhist story, the principal female character is an adivasi named Ananya ("not other"). The opposing sides come to see their oneness in Ananya. The frame-story is taken from the Vinaya-pitaka of the Pali Canon. It is the Bhaddavaggiyavatthu or "The Story of the Group of Well-Off Ones."

Book The Power of God in a Testimony

Download or read book The Power of God in a Testimony written by Barbara Jeanette Shephard and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2021-09-09 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is written to encourage and inspire those that are facing challenges in life. Barbara is a woman that grew up in a large family, in which she is the seventh child of nine children. From the time she was born, she was faced with many different health challenges. Through all the problems she endured, she believed in her heart that it was only a test. She always believed God could do the impossible. The Power of God in a Testimony is a memoir compiled of short stories and various testimonies that consist of miraculous healings that God performed in her life and her family. In one of her lowest moments, you will see how God strengthened her to go through one of the greatest obstacles of her life. She will tell her testimony of how God healed her of stage 4 cancer three times and stage 2 cancer twice. All was done within ten years. She will also tell the miraculous healing that God performed in her parents and sibling's life. You will see how God healed her father of a massive stroke, her mother of a compressed vertebrae, her brothers of a cardiac arrest and colon cancer, and her sisters of heart problems and cancer. You will also witness the healing of others. She will also tell of how God miraculously blessed her with jobs and opened doors, financially, for her. When it seems like doors were shut, God always provided. After all she has gone through, she is determined to hold on to God and not let her faith waiver. She has dedicated her life to God and continues to share her testimony.

Book excerpt: People of faith insist that God is the God of the world around us. Yet scientific evidence supporting evolution seems to offer an explanation of reality different from the biblical one. In light of this apparent conflict, some choose either to deny the scientific data or separate science and faith from each other, giving the appearance that faith is disconnected from reality. Others accommodate faith to science, but run the risk of watering down faith such that faith "fills in the blanks" left by science. Against these options, Daniel Harrell asserts that the evidence for evolution accurately describes the world we see, but insists that this description does not adequately serve as an explanation for the world. Rather than seeing science and faith as diametrically opposed, Harrell suggests that evolutionary data actually opens the door for deeper theological reflection on God's creation. Writing out of a pastoral concern for those struggling to negotiate faith and evolution, Harrell argues that being reliable witnesses to creation helps people of faith be reliable witnesses to its creator. Whether they are pastors wondering how to talk about these issues with their congregations, or students asking whether their biology classes make their faith irrelevant, Harrell's readers are winsomely led on a journey of exploration in which a robust biblical faith can be held along with affirmation of the scientific data for evolution.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Let me tell you why I Love Jesus is a book like no other. It is about two friends who met on their life's journey holding on to a similar hope in their hearts. Rekindling their friendship after many years of silence, they begin to realize through the conversations that they had something in common""a genuine love for God! Who could imagine losing loved ones, having strange supernatural experiences, and going into battle with depression would cause someone to fall so deeply in love with a higher power. They both feel so blessed to be able to share their triumphant stories with the world. If it had been for the Lord on their side, where would they be? You can only find out if you read the testimony. Truly, we are overcomers by one another's testimonies, and these two women have overcome so many obstacles in their life. In this book, they give all glory, honor, and praise to the Lord Jesus for bringing them through the worst times in their lives. Also, these women celebrate some of the beautiful gifts they believe came straight from the heart of the Father. Faith and favor can open doors no man can shut if you only believe. Anyone who reads this book will be encouraged and hopefully begin to count their many blessings.

From the Pit to the Palace is a story of a young woman who knew God had more for her in this life. Unfortunately, because of her own stubbornness, the freedom that awaited her was delayed. With trial after trial, test after test, God never left my side. It wasn't until I fully surrendered my will for his plan that I began to experience freedom. This book will encourage and inspire readers to walk fully in the light of God, knowing that his word is true. "Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee" (Deuteronomy 31:6).
