However, there is no singular explanation for the academic success of these students. In this descriptive study, memorable messages provide a unique avenue in which to explore academic success among Honors College students. Drawing from memorable message characteristics, semi-structured, one on one interviews were conducted with fifteen current Honors College students and later transcribed. Thematic interpretation was used to analyze transcriptions where over 120 individual thoughts emerged from the texts. Results indicated that memorable messages are indeed given to Honors College students about academic achievement in three distinct themes. These themes include (1) encouragement, (2) failure is not an option and (3) college.
