This book shows you the nature of failure, exhibits the path to success and shows you how greatness is achieved. You just need to learn to believe in what¿s in you. Believe in your greatness but don¿t get carried away by it and don¿t gloat about it. Tuck that knowledge deep inside and allow it to smolder. Nurture it till it advances to a flame. Allow it to infect all things you do, then nurture it more till that flame becomes a blaze and your successes seem superhuman to lesser minds.

Book I m Failing Forward

Download or read book I m Failing Forward written by Robert Darin Kintigh and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2024-01-31 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Got Trauma! After more than four decades, Robert Kintigh knows a thing or two about dealing with trauma, but not in the traditional sense. Sure, this story is full of the typical alcoholic father, broken home, and broken bones, but the endurance in Robert has to be admired. What stands out even bigger is how he has been able to turn the worst situations around, and come out the other end with such success it is mind blowing. Let me tell you some more so maybe you can appreciate what people have said who have had a sneak peek of the book prior to its release. Robert grew up in Southeast Los Angeles, and he was born into a typical middle class family in LA in the 1970's. What wasn't so typical was what he had to fight through starting at the age of four as his father was an alcoholic, and was heading into a streak of check writing fraud of 1000's of dollars, family destruction, adultery, and heart-break for his mother who never deserved his father's lack of loyalty. So, then it began, and by second grade Robert was running some very tough streets after his mother left his father out of life or death choices. His mother took him, and his brother, and moved far away before their father had a chance to cause even more harm including killing them. Robert became a latch key child out of necessity as his mother in order to make ends meet had to hold down two jobs. Robert's brother stayed home, and Robert went out into the world to try, and figure out what he could make of himself. The divorce, and lack of father in his life really caused him some issues that he had to figure out how to work out. This is where the story gets interesting because by fifth grade Robert endured broken bones, five concussions by fifth grade, dozens of stitches and a whole lot more than you can imagine. Why this story is unique is because I'm Failing Forward started out in second grade and became perfected by high school to adulthood. What is I'm Failing Forward all about? This book is about how Robert learned to dig in when everything was going bad, and I mean the worst situations you can think of. Robert has a way of turning bad things on its head, and he makes goodness out of most of it. In the book he talks about his PTSD, his own dealings with infidelity with his ex-wife, the loss of a leg, a felony and so much more. His successes in life could be talked about with great admiration, but that is not where the celebration should be placed. It is the way he leans in, and believes so much in to his Five F's. They are Fail, Faith, Focus, Freedom, and Future. What they mean is a long story, but what can be told is it takes anybody's trauma, and delivers it in a whole new direction. "I was a poor kid from South-east Los Angeles who came from a rough and tumble beginning, and I was just determined to make something great out of my life. All though it has definitely not been ideal it has been an amazing ride so far. I can't imagine my life before I learned to face my failures, and then decide I was not going to only be defined by them. God has a higher purpose for me. I am not sure yet what that totally is, but this book(and many others) is just one gift to this world I hope. I am a failure, and I am proud of it, and I want you to be a proud failure too because through adversity comes some brilliant lessons. Never let anyone shame you, or steal your light because everyone fails. I'm Failing Forward is here to change how you perceive things. My story sometimes seems hard to believe even to me but I have laid out everything as clear as I could and as honest as I could to deliver hope, leadership, faith, education and most important a brutal honesty lacking in this world. Please let me know your story by communication at Robert @truthmastery.com . . God Bless, and maybe ill see you in my I'm Failing Forward Tribe!

Book New Directions in Theorizing Qualitative Research

Download or read book New Directions in Theorizing Qualitative Research written by Norman K. Denzin and published by Myers Education Press. This book was released on 2020-05-14 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In what ways can performance be mobilized to resist? This is the question that the present volume explores from within the context of qualitative research. From an arts-based approach, authors suggest methods on how artistic practice resists. The volume addresses how critical performance autoethnography might retain its ethical and democratic potential without falling into dogmatism or hegemony. This vision for democracy can even be accomplished through improvised, process-centered pieces that weave together thoughts from several key scholars, all to give us a critical perspective on how performative autoethnography is paradigmatically situated. The performance texts collected here question and resist, showing how the experience of art-making can move us through political and public spaces with liberatory potential, challenging social and ideological hegemonies and to generate social movements. Imaginative arts-based practices allow us access to emotional and embodied phenomena that remain otherwise foreclosed by traditional forms of inquiry. From poetics to public performances, subversive interventions, and more, these chapters bring a radical performative discourse to the fore. In so doing, the chapters work to create a framework for just performance, showing us how we might live performance as resistance.

Book Specters of War

  • Author : Elisabeth Bronfen
  • Publisher : Rutgers University Press
  • Release : 2012-10-03
  • ISBN : 0813553997
  • Pages : 303 pages

Download or read book Specters of War written by Elisabeth Bronfen and published by Rutgers University Press. This book was released on 2012-10-03 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Specters of War looks at the way war has been brought to the screen in various genres and at different historical moments throughout the twentieth century and into the twenty-first. Elisabeth Bronfen asserts that Hollywood has emerged as a place where national narratives are created and circulated so that audiences can engage with fantasies, ideologies, and anxieties that take hold at a given time, only to change with the political climate. Such cultural reflection is particularly poignant when it deals with America’s traumatic history of war. The nation has no direct access to war as a horrific experience of carnage and human destruction; we understand our relation to it through images and narratives that transmit and interpret it for us. Bronfen does not discuss actual conflicts but the films by which we have come to know and remember them, including All Quiet on the Western Front, The Best Years of Our Lives, Miracle at St. Anna, The Deer Hunter, and Flags of Our Fathers. Battles and campaigns, the home front and women-who-wait narratives, war correspondents, and court martials are also explored as instruments of cultural memory. Bronfen argues that we are haunted by past wars and by cinematic re-conceptualizations of them, and reveals a national iconography of redemptive violence from which we seem unable to escape.
