Book Environmental Remediation Strategies of New and Emerging Chemical Contaminants

Download or read book Environmental Remediation Strategies of New and Emerging Chemical Contaminants written by Vishal Tripathi and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2024-10-21 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rapid research advancements in electronics, biomedicine, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and specialty chemicals have resulted in the environmental release of a large number of emerging pollutants. New and emerging pollutants (NEPs) are defined as xenobiotic organic chemicals that have recently been identified as potential threats to human health and the environment. NEPs is an umbrella term including antibiotics, antiepileptics, antidepressants, analgesics, anti-inflammatories, beta-blockers, cosmetics, disinfectants, microbeads, microplastics, etc. There is a rising level of concern regarding the fate and behaviour, human and animal health impact, and environmental pollution caused by these xenobiotic NEPs. In light of the potential effect of these organic pollutants, urgent action is required not only to understand the potential risks associated with these chemicals, but also for the development of novel approaches for sustainable remediation.

Book New and Future Developments in Catalysis

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New and Future Developments in Catalysis is a package of seven books that compile the latest ideas concerning alternate and renewable energy sources and the role that catalysis plays in converting new renewable feedstock into biofuels and biochemicals. Both homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts and catalytic processes will be discussed in a unified and comprehensive approach. There will be extensive cross-referencing within all volumes.Batteries and fuel cells are considered to be environmentally friendly devices for storage and production of electricity, and they are gaining considerable attention. The preparation of the feed for fuel cells (fuel) as well as the catalysts and the various conversion processes taking place in these devices are covered in this volume, together with the catalytic processes for hydrogen generation and storage. An economic analysis of the various processes is also part of this volume and enables an informed choice of the most suitable process. - Offers in-depth coverage of all catalytic topics of current interest and outlines future challenges and research areas - A clear and visual description of all parameters and conditions, enabling the reader to draw conclusions for a particular case - Outlines the catalytic processes applicable to energy generation and design of green processes

Book Management of Water Quality in Moldova

Download or read book Management of Water Quality in Moldova written by Gheorghe Duca and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-07-08 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with water management, one of the most challenging issues of contemporary society. Research and innovation in the field of water management must address certain fundamental aspects: access to water, water quality, water treatment, transboundary effect of water, etc. A comprehensive analysis was performed in a national research program of Moldova, entitled “Research and management of water quality”. The main goal of the research program was to create and improve the legal, scientific and methodological, technological basis and sustainable development of water, implementation of modern technologies in water supply, treatment and reuse. Other priorities include expansion of access to water sources, improvement of environmental protection, especially water protection against pollution and depletion, efficient water use and establishing an effective monitoring system for disaster prevention. The topics concern research of water structure and quality, surface water, groundwater, water treatment, irrigation technologies and water pollution by remains from industry, one of the main environmental problems of our time. The book helps to get to coherent water policies of states.

Book Regulation Market Prices And Process Innovation

Download or read book Regulation Market Prices And Process Innovation written by Edward Greenberg and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-07-16 with total page 157 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Through the study of innovation in processes for the production of synthetic ammonia, the authors examine the effects of environmental and workplace regulations on business innovation in general. They present a history of ammonia production in the U.S., a survey of government regulation in the industry, and a model of process innovation that combines the economist's production function with the technical and practical concepts of the engineer. Contrary to the widely held view that regulation has an unfortunate impact on business, the authors demonstrate that—at least in one industry—the economic factors of production have a measurable impact on innovation, while regulation does not.

Book Green Materials for Sustainable Water Remediation and Treatment
