Book Rigid Body Dynamics of Mechanisms

Download or read book Rigid Body Dynamics of Mechanisms written by Hubert Hahn and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph presents an introduction into basic mechanical aspects of mechatronic systems for students, researchers and engineers from industrial practice. An overview over the theoretical background of rigid body mechanics is given as well as a systematic approach for deriving and solving model equations of general rigid body mechanisms in the form of differential-algebraic equations (DAE). The objective of this book is to prepare the reader for being capable of efficiently handling and applying general purpose rigid body programs to complex mechanisms. The reader will be able to set up symbolic mathematical models of planar and spatial mechanisms in DAE-form for computer simulations, often required in dynamic analysis and in control design.

Book Lightweight Sandwich Construction

Download or read book Lightweight Sandwich Construction written by J. M. Davies and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-04-15 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sandwich panels are being used increasingly as the cladding of buildings like factories, warehouses, cold stores and retail sheds. This is because they are light in weight, thermally efficient, aesthetically attractive and can be easily handled and erected. However, to date, an authoritative book on the subject was lacking. This new reference work aims to fill that gap. The designer, specifier and manufacturer of sandwich panels all require a great deal of information on a wide range of subjects. This book was written by a group of European experts under the editorship of a UK specialist in lightweight construction. It provides guidance on: * materials used in manufacture * thermal efficiency and air- and water-tightness * acoustic performance * performance in fire * durability * special problems of sandwich panels in cold stores and chill rooms * architectural and aesthetic considerations * structural design at the ultimate and serviceability limit states * additional structural considerations including fastenings, the effect of openings and the use of sandwich panels as load-bearing walls * test procedures The book concludes with some numerical design examples and is highly illustrated throughout.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Krumholz has a strong writing style, didactic to be sure, but also fairly conversational within the limits of the material. While hardly casual reading, this text would be a good resource for a stellar astrophysicist, or any individual seeking to become one.'CHOICEThis book provides a modern introduction to the study of star formation, at a level suitable for graduate students or advanced undergraduates in astrophysics. The first third of the book provides a review of the observational phenomenology and then the basic physical processes that are important for star formation. The remainder then discusses the major observational results and theoretical models for star formation on scales from galactic down to planetary. The book includes recommendations for complementary reading from the research literature, as well as five problem sets with solutions.

Book Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic Data Analysis Concepts and Applications Third Edition

Download or read book Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic Data Analysis Concepts and Applications Third Edition written by Johan Gabrielsson and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2001-11-30 with total page 926 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a revised and very expanded version of the previous second edition of the book. "Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic Data Analysis" provides an introduction into pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic concepts using simple illustrations and reasoning. It describes ways in which pharmacodynamic and pharmacodynamic theory may be used to give insight into modeling questions and how these questions can in turn lead to new knowledge. This book differentiates itself from other texts in this area in that it bridges the gap between relevant theory and the actual application of the theory to real life situations. The book is divided into two parts; the first introduces fundamental principles of PK and PD concepts, and principles of mathematical modeling, while the second provides case studies obtained from drug industry and academia. Topics included in the first part include a discussion of the statistical principles of model fitting, including how to assess the adequacy of the fit of a model, as well as strategies for selection of time points to be included in the design of a study. The first part also introduces basic pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic concepts, including an excellent discussion of effect compartment (link) models as well as indirect response models. The second part of the text includes over 70 modeling case studies. These include a discussion of the selection of the model, derivation of initial parameter estimates and interpretation of the corresponding output. Finally, the authors discuss a number of pharmacodynamic modeling situations including receptor binding models, synergy, and tolerance models (feedback and precursor models). This book will be of interest to researchers, to graduate students and advanced undergraduate students in the PK/PD area who wish to learn how to analyze biological data and build models and to become familiar with new areas of application. In addition, the text will be of interest to toxicologists interested in learning about determinants of exposure and performing toxicokinetic modeling. The inclusion of the numerous exercises and models makes it an excellent primary or adjutant text for traditional PK courses taught in pharmacy and medical schools. A diskette is included with the text that includes all of the exercises and solutions using WinNonlin.
