Download or read book F 22 Raptor in Action written by Lou Drendel and published by MMD-Squadron Signal. This book was released on 2017 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The single-seat, twin-engine Lockheed Martin/Boeing F-22 Raptor is the world's first operational fifth-generation fighter, a new plateau in fighter design, surpassing the F-15 and MiG-29 capabilities. This volume traces the history of the Raptor and describes in detail why it is likely to be the world's best fighter for years to come. Although the Raptor was designed for air superiority, it also embodies ground attack, electronic warfare, and signals intelligence features. After years in planning and development, the US Air Force announced plans to purchase more than 600 F-22 Raptors in 1991. Cutbacks in 1993 reduced the number to 442. With the onset of the Obama Administration, Raptor production was capped at 187 units. As challenges to US global leadership mount, however, the Raptor's capabilities will face increasing demand.

Download or read book Live Fire Testing of the F 22 written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 1995-07-17 with total page 141 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Live Fire Test Law mandates realistic survivability and lethality testing of covered systems or programs. A provision of the law permits the Secretary of Defense to waive tests if live fire testing would be "unreasonably expensive and impractical." Though no waiver was requested before the F-22 program entered engineering and manufacturing development, the Defense Department later asked that Congress enact legislation to permit a waiver to be granted retroactively. Rather than enact such legislation, Congress requested a study to explore the pros and cons of full-scale, full-up testing for the F-22 aircraft program. The book discusses the origin of testing requirements, evaluates the practicality, affordability, and cost-benefit of live fire tests, and examines the role of testing, modeling, and data bases in vulnerability assessment.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The light and agile A-4 Skyhawk was the first modern American jet to be offered to the Israeli Air Force, marking the point where the US took over from France as Israel's chief military supplier. Deliveries began too late for the A-4 to fight in the Six-Day War, but it soon formed the backbone of the IAF's ground-attack force. From 1969 to 1970 it flew endless sorties against Egyptian forces in the War of Attrition. Then, during the Yom Kippur War, five squadrons of A-4s saw combat and 50 planes were lost as they battled against the Arab armored onslaught. Using previously unpublished first-hand accounts and rare photography from the IAF archives and pilots' private collections, Shlomo Aloni tells the definitive history of the IAF's A-4 squadrons, including the story of Ezra “BABAN” Dotan who became an ace with an unique double-kill of MiG17s.

His metamorphosis from Syrian peasant to brilliant engineer made him the perfect candidate for radicalization and absorption into Iran's insidious plan to complete their nuclear weapons program. Matt Black worked hard to become the top stealth fighter pilot in the F-22 Raptor, the most advanced aircraft on earth. Stopping Iran from spreading its anti-Western tentacles and becoming a nuclear menace is now his number one priority. An American attack on Iran is imminent. Khalil is asked to do the impossible--leverage stolen U.S. technology, breach the tightest security on the planet, hack into the Raptor's electronics, and make an invisible jet vulnerable to destruction. As the radical Iranian Caliphate unites the Persian Gulf region and their nuclear tipped missiles threaten the world, Captain Matt Black must figure out how to stop the rogue Ayatollah.
