Download or read book Eating on Eyre written by Rachel Van-Overdijk and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2012-10 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I moved to Port Lincoln only a year ago. Before my husband, children and I set off for the long journey across the Nullarbor Plain, my husband suggested that I write a cookbook for a hobby. I laughed, I can t write a cookbook . I didn t think there would be much of a market for a cookbook, let alone getting it published. When we arrived in Port Lincoln, I was immediately captivated by the town s beauty and I became excited to cook again. After spending some time in Lincoln, I decided to take my hobby one step further . The people of the world just had to see what I was seeing. Using what I could from local butchers, greengrocers, fisheries and small businesses I have written my cookbook with these ingredients with the excitement and enthusiasm I have for the town. I found that the local businesses of Lincoln and surrounding towns supported the locals by buying produce from local farms, fields and fisheries. In turn would sell mostly local produce to local Restaurants as well as the general public. Some restaurants feature the produce on their menus to encourage the general public further, to buy local or as a popular slogan states Buy SA . I ve been fortunate enough to find work in one of these places. I ve often witnessed the competition paying a visit to borrow stock, whether it s a bag of flour or a few T-bone steaks. Even the local butcher will drop off 20kg of bacon at just a moment s notice. The incredible scenery tempted me further These precious spots all over the Lower Eyre Peninsula are a beautiful backdrop for not only the photographs in my book but a reminder of what an amazing place we live in. For those who aren t fortunate enough to live on the Lower Eyre Peninsula, it s a worthwhile visit! Not only is the produce featured in this book readily available and cheap but the list of things to do is endless. I feel very fortunate to have started on this path of discovery; it requires another book and looking further afield and experiencing the delights the Lower Eyre Peninsula.

Book excerpt: Granite Landforms provides a systematic, coherent, and comprehensive account and analysis of granite landforms. It examines granite forms and their genesis; the morphology of granite exposures; the nature of the materials from which granitic rocks have evolved; and the weathering processes near the Earth’s surface. It also describes major landforms and assemblages, as well as the minor features that have evolved on the major hosts. Organized into four parts encompassing 12 chapters, this book begins with an overview of granite, including their characteristics, occurrences, and composition. It then discusses the factors that influence the weathering of granitic rocks and considers boulders and inselbergs, the all-slopes topography in granite, granite plains and rock basins, granite forms associated with steep slopes, and scarp foot depressions. The reader is also introduced to the piedmont angle, grooves or flutings, caves and tafoni, split rocks, cracked blocks and plates, and the role of climate in the development of landforms on granitic outcrops. Geologists, geomorphologists, geology students, and anyone interested in geology will find this book extremely useful.
