Book Undercover Disguise Methods for Investigators

Download or read book Undercover Disguise Methods for Investigators written by Arabella Mazzuki and published by Charles C Thomas Publisher. This book was released on 2015-08-11 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The road to master of disguise is a difficult and exciting one, fraught with equal parts danger and intrigue, but fortunately you don’t have to go it alone. The book you now hold in your hands will serve as a roadmap through the disguise terrain; novices and masters alike will find in these pages invaluable wisdom, advice and guidance previously unavailable in such a concise format. Recent years have seen unprecedented technology advancements. However, investigation and intelligence agencies still need field personnel; they need feet on the ground. To be effective, investigators and clandestine service persons need strong tradecraft skills that include the ability to disguise themselves. This book presents undercover disguise methods that came into focus in the clandestine services of World War II, evolved during the Cold War, and today features modern innovations. Here the reader discovers the latest disguise technologies, traditional and innovative methods not taught by police academies or included in college law enforcement and criminal justice curriculums. Customary purposes for disguise include to avoid recognition, support a pretext character and the corresponding undercover operation, prevent somebody accurately describing the agent, and to thwart physical surveillance. Naturally, some disguises are quicker to implement than others and some are more believable. Some disguises withstand prolonged close-up scrutiny, whereas others are suitable only when viewed briefly or from afar. The authors have removed the mystery and made short work of carving out a path for anyone looking to hone their craft in the art of disguise, ensuring success for all who are daring enough to pursue this road less traveled.

Download or read book In Disguise written by John O'Loughlin and published by Centretruths Digital Media. This book was released on 202-04-06 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If John O'Loughlin is 'In Disguise' here it's because, these days, he does not see himself primarily as a poet but, rather, as a philosopher, if a self-taught one, who once wrote poems, many of which were of a philosophical order and thus an alternative or formative approach to his philosophy-proper. The 180 or so poems collected together here are all readerly, or capable of being read, as opposed, like the bulk of Mr O'Loughlin's abstract poetry, to being contemplated (because non-readerly), and have accordingly been described as verse (whether 'rhymed' or 'free') to distinguish them from anything abstract, or non-readerly. 'Lyric' might suffice as a more conventional description, but, frankly, that would hardly apply to the majority of the poems in this collection which, as stated, are distinctly philosophical and the product, in consequence, of a disguised philosopher, a philosopher in disguise.

Book Disguise on the Early Modern English Stage

Download or read book Disguise on the Early Modern English Stage written by Professor Peter Hyland and published by Ashgate Publishing, Ltd.. This book was released on 2013-05-28 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Disguise devices figure in many early modern English plays, and an examination of them clearly affords an important reflection on the growth of early theatre as well as on important aspects of the developing nation. In this study Peter Hyland considers a range of practical issues related to the performance of disguise. He goes on to examine various conceptual issues that provide a background to theatrical disguise (the relation of self and "other", the meaning of mask and performance). He looks at many disguise plays under three broad headings. He considers moral issues (the almost universal association of disguise with "evil"); social issues (sumptuary legislation, clothing, and the theatre, and constructions of class, gender and national or racial identity); and aesthetic issues (disguise as an emblem of theatre, and the significance of disguise for the dramatic artist). The study serves to examine the significant ways in which disguise devices have been used in early modern drama in England.

Book Terminal Sedation Euthanasia in Disguise

Download or read book Terminal Sedation Euthanasia in Disguise written by Torbjörn Tännsjö and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-05-31 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: TERMINAL SEDATION DURING THE 1990s During the 1990s a discussion took place in scholarly journals concerning a measure within palliative care that had earlier attracted little attention, to wit, the sedation of dying patients. There seem to have been two main reasons why the practice came under debate. On the one hand, some people felt that, when palliative medicine had advanced and methods to control symptoms had improved, it was no longer justified to sedate the patients in a manner that had often been done in the past. The system of 1 terminal sedation had turned into ‘euthanasia in disguise’ or ‘slow euthanasia’. On the other hand, there were people sympathetic to the recently established Dutch system of euthanasia, people who agreed that terminal sedation was euthanasia in disguise, but who felt that, if it is not objectionable to sedate dying patients at their request, then why should it not be permitted for doctors to kill dying patients at 2 request? From these two motives a discussion about terminal sedation gained momentum. The intention behind this anthology is to continue and deepen this discussion. The anthology starts off with a chapter where an influential article from the 1990s has been reprinted.
