Book Extremely Short Cases on Strategic Management

Download or read book Extremely Short Cases on Strategic Management written by Ajit Prasad and published by Excel Books India. This book was released on 2002-08 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The subject of Strategy is extremely complex and perhaps can be taught only through the use of Cases. Unfortunately, most of the available cases in Strategic Management tend to be extremely long, which test more the patience rather than the intellectual rigour. This book thus fulfills the void in the literature by offering a bouquet of cases that are designed not only to test the operational understanding but the conceptual and intellectual discipline that the reader must inculcate to be a successful strategist. The book contains 24 cases, ranging from mammoth public sector organisations like SBI and SAIL to global corporations like Cray and Apple, as also the sublimely interesting episodes in the like of Phoolan Devi and Princess Diana. All the cases are extremely readable, and are designed to introduce the different aspects of Strategic Management to the reader. The book is a must read for students, strategists as well as practicing managers.

Book The Balloon Noteworthy Aerial Voyages from the Discovery of the Balloon to the Present Time With a Narrative of the Aeronautic Experiences of Mr Samuel A King and a Full Description of His Great Captive Balloons and Their Apparatus

Download or read book The Balloon Noteworthy Aerial Voyages from the Discovery of the Balloon to the Present Time With a Narrative of the Aeronautic Experiences of Mr Samuel A King and a Full Description of His Great Captive Balloons and Their Apparatus written by Anon and published by Read Books Ltd. This book was released on 2021-03-22 with total page 143 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the 21st century - the age of the budget airline - where quick and reliable air travel is available to a large segment of society, it seems hard to comprehend that it is less than 250 years since the first human took to the skies. Although the wing of the bird seemed like the most obvious natural mechanism to attempt replicate, it was actually contained hot air, as demonstrated by the Montgolfiers and their balloon, that gave birth to the era human aviation. Since the first manned balloon flight in 1783, developments have come thick and fast, the airship, the aeroplane, and finally the space shuttle. This reprint of a classic publication from 1879 contains a wealth of fascinating information on the early history of aviation. Complete with illustrations and a brand new introduction, it covers the adventures of the great aeronauts such as Coxwell and Rozier, and famous ascents like that of the Zenith. This is a wonderful work for anyone with an interest in the technology and events that defined the lighter-than-air period of aeronautics.

Book A One dimensional Vertical Diffusion Parameter for Extremely Inhomogeneous Layered Turbulence in Stratified Fluids

Download or read book A One dimensional Vertical Diffusion Parameter for Extremely Inhomogeneous Layered Turbulence in Stratified Fluids written by Edmond M. Dewan and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A self-consistent method of characterizing vertical turbulent transport by means of a diffusion parameter is demonstrated for the extremely inhomogeneous case of layered turbulence in a stratified fluid. Between the horizontal turbulent layers, horizontal laminar flow is assumed to occur, and molecular diffusion is ignored. The layers are assumed to occur at random heights with random thickness. An analogy is made between the process of random mixing layers and the finite difference representation of the diffusion equation. It is demonstrated by means of a series of digital computer experiments that, in the case where total mixing takes place within the turbulent layers, the diffusion parameter herein developed is the valid one to use (in contrast to 'eddy diffusivity'). The relation between this inhomogeneous diffusion parameter and practical experimental measurements is given. The motive behind this investigation involves vertical transport of pollution in the environment in general and in the stratosphere in particular.
