Book Extension and Updating of the Computer Simulation of Range Relative Doppler Processing and Invariant Mapping for MM Wave Seekers Volume 3 Simulation of a Doppler Beam Sharpening Radar for MM Wave Seekers

Download or read book Extension and Updating of the Computer Simulation of Range Relative Doppler Processing and Invariant Mapping for MM Wave Seekers Volume 3 Simulation of a Doppler Beam Sharpening Radar for MM Wave Seekers written by and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report extends the application of Range Relative Doppler Processing RRDP and of the Invariant Mapping Technique to beam doppler sharpening radars, where the goal is to map a large area on the ground. In this application the antenna follows a horizontal path while scanning a wide azimuth interval. Two programs are developed: DOPFP. FOR and DOPXY. FOR. The first detects targets with the sequence of footprints. The second program uses invariant mapping to generate a file which contains reflectivity data versus absolute coordinates for a selectable x-y window. An example illustrates the detection of (4) forty randomly distributed scatters. The performance is quite good, except that the azimuth resolution is poor for footprints at very low azimuth angles. All the results are in complete agreement with the theory. (Author).

Download or read book The Micro doppler Effect in Radar written by Victor C. Chen and published by Artech House. This book was released on 2011 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Doppler Effect can be thought of as the change in frequency of a wave for an observer moving relative to the source of the wave. In radar, it is used to measure the velocity of detected objects. This highly practical resource provides thorough working knowledge of the micro-Doppler effect in radar, including its principles, applications and implementation with MATLAB codes. The book presents code for simulating radar backscattering from targets with various motions, generating micro-Doppler signatures, and analyzing the characteristics of targets. In this title, professionals will find detailed descriptions of the physics and mathematics of the Doppler and micro-Doppler effect. The book provides a wide range of clear examples, including an oscillating pendulum, a spinning and precession heavy top, rotating rotor blades of a helicopter, rotating wind-turbine blades, a person walking with swinging arms and legs, a flying bird, and movements of quadruped animals.

Book LiDAR Technologies and Systems

Download or read book LiDAR Technologies and Systems written by Paul F. McManamon and published by SPIE-International Society for Optical Engineering. This book was released on 2019 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "LiDAR technology and Systems is a tutorial book, covering LiDAR Technology. The introduction sets lidar in context, as one of many sensor technologies utilizing electro-magnetic radiation. LiDAR is in the optical and infrared wavelengths, and it is an active sensor, which collects reflected EM radiation. It is similar to more familiar passive EO/IR sensors in wavelength, and similar to radar in that it uses reflected radiation emitted by the sensor. The second chapter goes the > 50 years of lidar history. Chapter 3 covers the link budget - how much signal a LiDAR must emit in order to get a certain number of reflected photons back. Chapter 4 discusses the rich phenomenology of LiDAR. One of the strengths of LiDAR is its' diverse phenomenology's. As a result, there are many flavors of LiDAR. The most common is 3D imaging, but there are many other types of lidars, with different measurement objectives. The next 4 chapters discuss components of a LiDAR. Chapter 5 discusses laser sources, chapter 6 LiDAR receivers, chapter 7 beam steering approaches, and chapter 8 LiDAR processing. The last 3 chapters are testing, metrics, and applications. Chapter 11, the applications chapter, picks 4 popular applications and discusses these LiDARs, and how to build them, for these applications. Chapter 11 as a result will repeats some information in earlier chapters, but in the context of a particular application"--

Book Radar Automatic Target Recognition ATR and Non Cooperative Target Recognition NCTR

Download or read book Radar Automatic Target Recognition ATR and Non Cooperative Target Recognition NCTR written by David Blacknell and published by IET. This book was released on 2013-08-23 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Radar Automatic Target Recognition (ATR) and NonCooperative Target Recognition (NCTR) captures material presented by leading international experts at a NATO lecture series and explores both the fundamentals of classification techniques applied to data from a variety of radar modes and selected advanced techniques at the forefront of research. The ability to detect and locate targets by day or night, over wide areas, regardless of weather conditions has long made radar a key sensor in many military and civil applications. However, the ability to automatically and reliably distinguish different targets represents a difficult challenge, although steady progress has been made over the past couple of decades. This book explores both the fundamentals of classification techniques applied to data from a variety of radar modes and selected advanced techniques at the forefront of research. Topics include: the problem as applied to the ground, air and maritime domains; impact of image quality on the overall target recognition performance; performance of different approaches to the classifier algorithm; improvement in performance to be gained when a target can be viewed from more than one perspective; ways in which natural systems perform target recognition; impact of compressive sensing; advances in change detection, including coherent change detection; and challenges and directions for future research.
