Book Exposure of Man to Low Intensity Magnetic Fields in a Coil System

Download or read book Exposure of Man to Low Intensity Magnetic Fields in a Coil System written by Dietrich E. Beischer and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The magnetosphere is an intrinsic component of the Earth environment, and travel beyond this sphere will expose man to near absence of a magnetic field. The present study is a continuation of a previous investigation of the physiological and psychological effects of prolonged exposure of man to low intensity magnetic fields. In support of previous findings, a significant gradual decrease of the scotopic flicker fusion threshold was observed from which the subjects recovered after exposure. Problems of life in a magnetic field-free environment are discussed. (Author).

Book Biological Effects of Magnetic Fields

Download or read book Biological Effects of Magnetic Fields written by Madeleine F. Barnothy and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We define biomagnetism broadly as the science of processes and functions in living organisms induced by static magnetic fields. Biomagnetic research has greatly increased since the publication of the first volume of this series. While much of this work has been reported in various international journals, there exists a need for this work to be collected together in one place. This book covers a rather wide area of research, both with respect to the strength of the field, ranging from "zero" to 150,000 oersteds, and with respect to the various specimens and their biological functions. It is designed primarly to help clarify the action of magnetic fields on biological systems with the hope of achieving a better understanding of the fundamental physiological processes occurring in them. In some chapters it is suggested that magnetic fields could ultimately be used in the treatment of disease. I would like to take this occasion to thank the contributors for their generous interest and willing cooperation. M. F. B. June 1969 Chicago, Illinois v CONTRIBUTORS Robert A. Book The Geomagnetic Field and Life

Download or read book The Geomagnetic Field and Life written by A. Dubrov and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I am very pleased that my book The Geomagnetic Field and Life is being published in English in the United States. Thanks to the initiative of Plenum Press, a publishing hause that is widely known in all countries, I have a great new opportunity to make direct contact with friends throughout the world. My book on the geomagnetic field can be regarded as an abstraction, whose purpose is to provide a better picture and understanding of the world araund us, its main driving forces, and factors, to help us to know ourselves, and to proceed further. The essence of the abstraction is that in treating the problern I have deliberately ignored the diverse effects of various extemal factors on living organisms and have confined myself to an analysis of the effect of the GMF. This approach allows me to go one step further-to draw various conclusions and propose theories that rnight bring us closer to a proper understanding of the true nature of the phenomena. Philosophers have long been aware that by such abstract thinking we can deterrnine the nature of phenomena more reliably, completely, and comprehensively, penetrate to the very core of the observed effects, and perceive the depth of their interrelations.

Book Biologic Effects of Environmental Electromagnetism

Download or read book Biologic Effects of Environmental Electromagnetism written by H. L. König and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ARCHIVE COpy DO NOT REMOVE The public in industrialized countries shows a mounting concern about biological effects of electrical and magnetic fields. As a result, experimental studies on this subject are being published in increasing numbers throughout the world. Prof. H. L. Konig, of the Technical University of Munich, West Germany, a leading expert and pioneer in this field, has written an authoritative text in a lucid style which makes the material also accessible to lay readers. The book describes the effects of natural as well as artificial electromagnetic energies covering the en tire measurable frequency range from the highest frequencies, x-rays, through microwaves, radio waves, and finally extremely low frequency (ELF) waves. Cit ing the evidence from scientific studies in various countries, Konig also appraises the biologic effects of microwaves and high tension power lines, which have become controversial issues in recent years. Other contributions to the book have been made by Prof. Albert P. Krueger, University of California, Berkeley, on air ionization effects and by the mete orologist Walter Sonning on biometeorology, documenting the influence of atmo spheric electrical currents on health and disease. Moreover, the late Dr. Siegnot Lang, a former coworker of Dr. Konig, has contributed to this book.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electromagnetic pollution is the permeation of the environment with undesirable static and alternating electric and magnetic fields. The undesirable fields are usually man-made. Electromagnetic pollution is different from other types of pollution, such as air, water, and noise pollution, in two ways. First, it is almost always invisible, and second
