Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CCH Accounting for Derivatives and Hedging offers professionals comprehensive guidance for applying the intricate and expansive requirements of FASB Statement No. 133, Accounting for Derivative Instruments and Hedging Activities, and its amendments. Since its issuance, the FASB has amended and interpreted Statement 133 numerous times, making the accounting guidance for derivatives and hedging activities one of the most complex and frequently misunderstood accounting principles used in business today. CCH Accounting for Derivatives and Hedging helps users identify the nuances of accounting for these types of activities and provides practical guidance on how to apply these principles to typical situations currently encountered in practice in numerous types of transactions, including: fair value hedges; interest-rate swaps; cash flow hedges; embedded derivative instruments; net investment hedges; and disclosures. This expansive guide provides professionals with a practical resource by selectively combining information from the official text of the FASB, along with information drawn from the rules and releases of the SEC, consensuses of the EITF, and lessons learned from leading practitioners in the field.

This report sets out a revised package of recommendations for reform of the private Member's bill process. The revised proposals include that: the House should agree to a convention that the question on second reading of a private Member's bill should be put to the House at the end of a full day's debate, in the same way that the House expects the question to be put on second reading of a Government bill; Bills which have not been published should be clearly identified in the Future Business section of the Order Paper; Pages should be provided on the Parliamentary website where draft private Members' bills can be made available online for scrutiny and comment which should be done on a pilot basis in the 2014-15 session; a bill need not be brought in immediately after leave is granted under the ten minute rule; the risk of a single Member monopolising the limited opportunities for debate of private Members' bills should be reduced by providing that a private Member may present no more than one bill on any one day; the deadline for publishing a private Member's bill should be brought forward to the Wednesday of the week prior to the day of second reading; Private Members' bills should be called "backbench bills"

Book Dual Reporting for Equity and Other Comprehensive Income under IFRSs and U S GAAP

This book was released on 2012-05-03 with total page 459 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Under IFRS, U.S. GAAP, and the SEC rules and regulations, business enterprises must recognise measure and disclose information regarding equity items on the face of the statement of financial position, other specific statements, or in the notes to the financial statements. However, under both IFRS and U.S. GAAP there is no all-inclusive general standard on stockholders’ equity. This book clarifies the process of reporting stockholders’ equity in a manner which can be reconciled under all the relevant standards. “Not only has the author addressed the informational needs of the players in the accounting industry, he has also drawn, based on his vast experience, practical implications of reporting under both standards.” —Noraini Mohd Nasir, Journal of Financial Reporting and Accounting

Book Social Citizenship in the Shadow of Competition

Download or read book Social Citizenship in the Shadow of Competition written by Bronwen Morgan and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-11-30 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Social Citizenship in the Shadow of Competition explores how economic concepts and tools are reshaping regulatory law. Building on studies that link law - both institutionally and discursively - to the legitimation of economic neo-liberalism, the book charts lawmakers' attempts to justify social welfare regulation in the language imposed by economic theory. It presents new qualitative findings from an ambitious regulatory reform programme targeting over 1,700 pieces of legislation. Bronwen Morgan argues that the interplay between economic discourse and lawmaking does not destroy the possibility of social citizenship; however, the subsequent regulatory conversations frequently silence or weaken the claims of vulnerable groups. Thus, even when vulnerable groups secure instrumental success, economic conceptions of bureaucratic rationality impoverish their capacity to express certain kinds of intangible values and aspirations. To expand or retain social citizenship requires that we learn to conceive of what matters in political economy without relying on the logic of utility or other instrumental rationalities.
