Book Marriage Enrichment

Download or read book Marriage Enrichment written by Ronald D. Moore and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 500 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This dissertation reports the design, implementation and evaluation of a church-based marriage enrichment program. The program is based on the cognitive/behavioral tradition providing insight and skills needed to change thinking and behavior. This approach not only enables married couples to learn effective ways of developing a more stable and satisfying relationship, but also provides a structure in which the learned skills can be put into practice. 12 couples participated in this 8-week program. They completed the following 7 components: 1) attendance and participation in the Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program Approach seminar; 2) reading 2 marriage enrichment books; 3) Bible-based devotional reading and prayer twice weekly; 4) a date night every other week; 5) weekly meetings; 6) a weekend retreat; and 7) attendance and participation in a "Celebration of Commitment" ceremony. The ENRICH Marital Inventory was given as a pre- and post-test. It was used to measure the effectiveness of the program along with verbal and written reporting by the couples. The hypothesis validated by the research for all 12 couples is: Having completed the marriage enrichment program, couples will report greater marital stability and satisfaction.

Book Created for Connection

Download or read book Created for Connection written by Chad Nahum Imhoff and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of Created for Connection (CFC), a faith based marriage enrichment program on relationship satisfaction, adult attachment style and adult attachment behavior. This study further adds to the existing knowledge base related to faith-based programs delivered in an intensive weekend format (Johnson & Sanderfer, 2016). Participants were volunteers from the local community who identified as Christian. To ascertain the effectiveness of CFC, three self-report measures were administered at three different intervals: two weeks before the program, two weeks following the program and a six-week follow-up. I measured attachment anxiety, attachment avoidance, attachment behaviors and relationship satisfaction. I compared results using four repeated measure ANOVAs. CFC did have a statistically significant effect on relationship satisfaction and on attachment avoidance. Previous literature highlights the need for research on this type of intervention as well as the importance of the marriage relationship (Anderson, 2014; Berger & Hannah, 2014; Cole & Cole, 1999; Markman & Rhoades, 2012; Worthington, Johnson, Hook, & Aten, 2013). This research offers some insights as to the effects of this program and also establishes a base from which further research can be done on CFC.

Book excerpt: Foreword by Dave and Ashley Willis, authors of The Naked Marriage and hosts of The Naked Marriage Podcast A husband-wife team offers practical advice for married couples to end the cycle of reactionary arguments by examining the most common issues that trigger disagreements and applying God’s Word to radically transform relationships. Many couples know their marriage has room for improvement, but it is hard to pinpoint exactly why a relationship is suffering. Often times everyday triggers are the culprit. If you are wondering how to break out of the cycle of reactionary outbursts, cold shoulders, resentment, and pain that harms your relationship, you are not alone. Experiencing peace and joy rather than anger and frustration is not as hard as you think! Marriage Triggers walks you through thirty-one of the most common marital issues that sabotage great relationships, like poor communication, lack of spiritual leadership, busy schedules, and different parenting styles. Married for fourteen years, authors Amber and Guy Lia are your typical couple and they share tips for countering negative reactions to triggers with gentle, biblical responses. Rather than run from the things that cause conflict, Amber and Guy believe these triggers are opportunities for growth, both individually and as a couple. They challenge you to let Marriage Triggers renew your commitment to responding gently and biblically towards your partner.
