Book A Phenomenological Anaysis of God Attachment Romantic Attachment and Relationship Satisfaction in Christian Couples Completing an Emotionally focused Marital Intensive

Download or read book A Phenomenological Anaysis of God Attachment Romantic Attachment and Relationship Satisfaction in Christian Couples Completing an Emotionally focused Marital Intensive written by Shannon Roberts and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With professional counseling ethics and organizations moving to more spiritual and cultural sensitivity on behalf of their clients, there is limited research on Christian couples in the area of marital intervention. This phenomenological study examined the shared experiences of five Christian couples who participated in a Christian emotionally-focused therapy marital intensive and who reported maintaining relationship satisfaction one year later. The study assessed the effectiveness of this Christian marital counseling intervention; and identified emergent processes and themes that occurred specific to Christian couples in a marital intervention setting; and added to the God attachment and romantic attachment literature through a Christian EFT marital intervention model. I operated as the interviewer for each couple. Results yielded three major themes for the three research questions, several minor themes and a few points of interest. The SHRM was found to be an effective intervention for Christian couples to move to a secure presentation in God and romantic attachment presentation that resulted in relationship satisfaction. The recommendations for future research included conducting a longitudinal quantitative study by operationalizing the outcome themes from this study, conducting a qualitative study with couples who did not achieve relationship satisfaction through SHRM, and conducting a qualitative study with other counselors who have used this model. The outcome model can be used as a diagnostic tool at intake to better individualize each couple’s treatment focus and inform the clinician as to the couple’s attachment presentation in the area of God attachment, romantic attachment, relationship satisfaction and attachment outside the relationship.

Book Created for Connection

Download or read book Created for Connection written by Chad Nahum Imhoff and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of Created for Connection (CFC), a faith based marriage enrichment program on relationship satisfaction, adult attachment style and adult attachment behavior. This study further adds to the existing knowledge base related to faith-based programs delivered in an intensive weekend format (Johnson & Sanderfer, 2016). Participants were volunteers from the local community who identified as Christian. To ascertain the effectiveness of CFC, three self-report measures were administered at three different intervals: two weeks before the program, two weeks following the program and a six-week follow-up. I measured attachment anxiety, attachment avoidance, attachment behaviors and relationship satisfaction. I compared results using four repeated measure ANOVAs. CFC did have a statistically significant effect on relationship satisfaction and on attachment avoidance. Previous literature highlights the need for research on this type of intervention as well as the importance of the marriage relationship (Anderson, 2014; Berger & Hannah, 2014; Cole & Cole, 1999; Markman & Rhoades, 2012; Worthington, Johnson, Hook, & Aten, 2013). This research offers some insights as to the effects of this program and also establishes a base from which further research can be done on CFC.

Book Evaluating the Effects of the Re engage Marriage Enrichment Program on the Use of Christian Spiritual Disciplines

Download or read book Evaluating the Effects of the Re engage Marriage Enrichment Program on the Use of Christian Spiritual Disciplines written by Erica P. Holmes and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this program evaluation is to evaluate the church-developed marriage small group intervention, re|engage, for its effects on the use of spiritual disciplines of the Christian faith to improve marital satisfaction of program participants. Utilizing quantitative archival data from the sole empirical study, Engaging with re|engage : A Study of Watermark Community Church’s 16-Session Marriage Intervention Program – re|engage (Boyd & Charlemagne, 2016), pre-test / post-test responses were evaluated to assess the effects of the re|engage marriage program on the use of Christian spiritual disciplines, including faith in God, prayer, and forgiveness, to improve the marital satisfaction of program participants. It was hypothesized that a statistically significant difference between pretest and posttest implementation of spiritual disciplines would be present. Results indicate that change attributable to the re|engage program, specifically regarding forgiveness, faith as expressed through dependence upon God, and prayer, finds that 52% of participants reported improvement in the area of forgiving a spouse, 39.3% of participants reported increased faith or dependence on God, and 40.3% of participants reported that praying with a spouse increased.

Download or read book The Marriage Builder written by Larry Crabb and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2013-05-07 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bestselling author Larry Crabb cuts to the heart of the biblical view of marriage: the "one-flesh" relationship. He argues convincingly that the deepest needs of human personality--security and significance--ultimately cannot be satisfied by a marriage partner. We need to turn to the Lord, rather than our spouse, to satisfy our needs. This frees both partners for "soul oneness," a commitment to minister to our spouse's needs rather than manipulating them to meet our own needs. With "soul oneness" comes renewed "body oneness," where couples enjoy sexual pleasure as an expression and outgrowth of a personal relationship. The Marriage Builder also identifies three building blocks essential to constructing marriage: the grace of God, true marriage commitment, and acceptance of one's mate. Discussion questions are included to aid couples who want to dig into it and apply the principles to their own lives and marriages. The Marriage Builder is for anyone who longs to transform marriage from trial to triumph.

Book Touch in the Helping Professions

Download or read book Touch in the Helping Professions written by Martin Rovers and published by University of Ottawa Press. This book was released on 2018-04-10 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Touch may well be one of the least understood or talked about subjects in the helping professions. A discussion on the importance and ethics of positive, caring, and appropriate touch in professions such as teaching, nursing and counselling is long overdue. Touch in the Helping Professions delivers just that, weaving together scholarly evidence, research and clinical practice from a wide range of perspectives encompassing philosophy, theology, psychology, and anthropology to challenge assumptions about the role of touch in the helping professions. The contributors to the volume focus not only on the overarching roles of gender, age, culture and life experience, but go beyond to encompass canine-assisted therapy, touch deprivation, sacred objects, as well as key ethical considerations. The prevailing lack of dialogue, due to fear of contravening ethical boundaries, has stood in the way of an open and responsible discussion on the use of touch in therapy. Touch in the Helping Professions is a welcome and much needed contribution to the field—a window onto a fundamental need. This book is published in English.
