Book Spiritual Intelligence and Public Servant Leadership

Download or read book Spiritual Intelligence and Public Servant Leadership written by Sheila Renae Trapp and published by Tate Publishing. This book was released on 2013-03 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Spiritual intelligence is considered the ultimate intelligence; [it] generates positive attitudes and influences the ability to assist others to overcome suffering." However, public service organizations have largely eliminated the spiritual and moral alignments they were founded upon (Houston, Freeman, & Feldman, 2008). The lack of knowledge of Spiritual Intelligence is a worthy concept to research. Bringing the concept of Spiritual Intelligence further into the body of knowledge is an important part of this published study.

Book How Leaders Develop Spiritual Intelligence

Download or read book How Leaders Develop Spiritual Intelligence written by Nsombi Jaja and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2010-04 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent discussions on leadership have led to new opportunities for viewing leadership development through the lens of spiritual intelligence. Research into factors that contribute to consistently high performance in organizations indicated that leadership, and especially the spiritual intelligence of the leaders, was pivotal in creating the organizational environment that led to high performance. Little information exists on the critical events and paths that lead to the development of spiritual intelligence across a leader s lifetime and career. This qualitative phenomenological research explored the lived experiences of 21 leaders in Jamaica s financial services sector to determine the factors, events, and experiences contributing to their spiritual intelligence development and how spiritual intelligence contributed to their development as leaders. Spiritual exposure early in life, the influence of parents, teachers and mentors and traumatic experiences contributed to spiritual intelligence development. Participants use their spiritual intelligence to guide decision making, build relationships and create the organizational climate for high performance.

Book Expressions of Spiritually Inspired Leadership in the Public Sector

Download or read book Expressions of Spiritually Inspired Leadership in the Public Sector written by Deborah Wharff and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a dissertation for contemporary times. It is a story of intellectual and spiritual growth and renewal, a narrative account of the events that helped to shape the author's worldview of leadership and organizational life. This dissertation documents a two-year long action research project for which the author was a complete-member researcher. This is a documentary of a research approach that can be used to shape and co-create reality of what spirituality means in context of leadership, and make research more relevant to the lives of workplace managers. This dissertation integrates several distinct pieces of empirical research that explore the meaning of spirituality in context of public sector leadership. It provides insight into the methodologies and techniques used in research, specifically how autoethnography, grounded theory, ethnomethodology, and narrative analysis designs were applied to collect, analyze, and synthesize data to develop a cogent story of how leaders express their spirituality. The research was accomplished in two phases. The results of the first phase suggest that scholars should develop an integrated theory of leadership that includes spirituality as a facilitating and intrinsic dimension of motivation and action. Furthermore, the author argues that spiritual beliefs and manifestations might provide a promising new way to assess mental models of reality at particular stages of human, moral, and leadership development. The second study suggests that although leaders may be able to define spirituality in context of leadership and express ways in which spirituality manifests itself in the workplace, there is little evidence to show that academic programs or workplace developmental programs address the notion of spirituality in a formal or institutionalized manner. The research suggests a leadership development model that facilitates transformational learning experiences through critical and deep reflection and honest discourse about the meaning of spirituality.

Book Spiritual Intelligence

Download or read book Spiritual Intelligence written by Danah Zohar and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2012-04-12 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the beginning of the twentieth century psychologists discovered ways and means to measure intelligence that developed into an obsession with IQ. In the mid 1990's, Daniel Goleman popularised research into emotional intelligence, EQ, pointing out that EQ is a basic requirement for the appropriate use of IQ. In this century, there is enough collective evidence from psychology, neurology, anthropology and cognitive science to show us that there is a third 'Q', 'SQ' or Spiritual Intelligence. SQ is uniquely human and, the authors argue, the most fundamental intelligence. SQ is what we use to develop our longing and capacity for meaning, vision and value. It allows us to dream and to strive. It underlies the things we believe in, and the role our beliefs and values play in the actions that we take and the way we shape our lives.
