Book Exploring the Worship Spectrum

Download or read book Exploring the Worship Spectrum written by Zondervan, and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2010-05-11 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An exploration of what worship looks like from a biblical standpoint and why the topic of worship can be so contentious among Christians. Because worship is inherently theological--because it's a manifestation of humanity's response to God's holiness--it's important to take seriously how we worship and the roles it serves in personal displays of adoration and in community with other believers. Exploring the Worship Spectrum provides an overview, critique, and celebration of six prominent worship styles: Formal-Liturgical – represented by Paul Zahl Traditional Hymn-Based – represented by Harold Best Contemporary Music-Driven – represented by Joe Horness Charismatic – represented by Don Williams Blended – represented by Robert Webber Emerging – represented by Sally Morgenthaler This unique format allows those with a heart for worship to compare different perspectives and draw their own conclusions on what the Bible teaches. It allows readers to understand the various approaches to worship, carefully evaluate their strengths and weaknesses, and make personal choices without adopting a judgmental spirit. The Counterpoints series presents a comparison and critique of scholarly views on topics important to Christians that are both fair-minded and respectful of the biblical text. Each volume is a one-stop reference that allows readers to evaluate the different positions on a specific issue and form their own, educated opinion.

Download or read book Seismic Exploration Methods written by Ray L. Sengbush and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the seismic methods used in geophys ical exploration for oil and gas in a comprehensive, non rigorous, mathematical manner. I have used it and its predecessors as a manual for short courses in seismic methods, and it has been extensively revised time and again to include the latest advances in our truly remark able science. I once called it, "Advanced Seismic Inter pretation," but the geophysicists who attended the courses always wondered when I was going to start dis cussing interpretation. They discovered at the end that I never did discuss interpretation as they knew it. No men tion was made of reflection picking, posting times, map ping, contouring, and things they already knew perfectly well. Instead, I discussed Fourier transforms, sampling theory, impulse responses, distortion operators, Wiener filters, noise in f-k space, velocity spectra, wave-equation migration, and direct detection of hydrocarbons as each of these topics appeared on the seismic scene. I wanted the geophysicists to think beyond the routine ofinterpre tation, to develop a better understanding of why seismic sections look as they do, to have a better feel for what digital processing is doing, for good or evil, to the seismic data. I attempted to stretch their minds. Whitehead said it best: "A mind once stretched by a new idea can never shrink to its former dimension. " May this book be a suc cessful mind-stretcher. R. L.

Book Spectrum and Power Allocation in Cognitive Radio Systems

Download or read book Spectrum and Power Allocation in Cognitive Radio Systems written by Suriyan, Kannadhasan and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2024-08-06 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As wireless services rapidly expand, the inefficient use of limited spectrum resources poses a critical challenge. The conventional approach to spectrum allocation, based on fixed assignments, could be more effective in meeting the escalating demand for wireless devices and systems. Cognitive radio technology offers a transformative solution by reimagining the spectrum as a multidimensional space, enabling opportunistic access to underutilized bands. However, the field of cognitive radio is still in its early stages, needing more in-depth analyses and descriptions of crucial processes. Spectrum and Power Allocation in Cognitive Radio Systems addresses this pressing need by offering a comprehensive guide for academic scholars, researchers, and industry professionals. This book delves into cognitive radio technology's foundations, organization, and challenges, providing insights into dynamic spectrum access, networking protocols, hardware architecture, and emerging applications. It presents advanced topics such as spectrum sensing algorithms, cooperative spectrum sensing, and multi-user access, offering practical solutions to enhance spectrum efficiency.

Book Economics of Database Assisted Spectrum Sharing

Download or read book Economics of Database Assisted Spectrum Sharing written by Yuan Luo and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-08-13 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines the interaction between the technical and economic issues in database-assisted dynamic spectrum networks. It explains various business models for different network settings, analyzing the user behaviors and system equilibrium under each model. With the explosive growth of mobile devices and bandwidth-hungry applications, radio spectrum is becoming increasingly congested and scarce. Database-assisted dynamic spectrum sharing is a promising technology for solving the problem of spectrum scarcity and congestion by allowing unlicensed mobile devices to dynamically access the under-utilized licensed spectrum resources through the assistance of a database. Database-assisted spectrum sharing network architecture has received wide and enthusiastic support from spectrum regulators, standards bodies, and industrial organizations. This book serves as a resource for researchers in white space communications and networking, for regulators in the wireless industry, and for graduate students and senior undergraduate students taking a course on network economics.

Book Auction Design for the Wireless Spectrum Market

Download or read book Auction Design for the Wireless Spectrum Market written by Peng Lin and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-05-20 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Brief introduces the wireless spectrum market and discusses the current research for spectrum auctions. It covers the unique properties of spectrum auction, such as interference relationship, reusability, divisibility, composite effect and marginal effect, while also proposing how to build economic incentives into the network architecture and protocols in order to optimize the efficiency of wireless systems. Three scenarios for designing new auctions are demonstrated. First, a truthful double auction scheme for spectrum trading considering both the heterogeneous propagation properties of channels and spatial reuse is proposed. In the second scenario, a framework is designed to enable spectrum group secondary users with a limited budget. Finally, a flexible auction is created enabling operators to purchase the right amounts of spectrum at the right prices according to their users’ dynamic demands. Both concise and comprehensive, Auction Design for the Wireless Spectrum Market is suited for professionals and researchers working with wireless communications and networks. It is also a useful tool for advanced-level students interested in spectrum and networking issues.
