Book excerpt: The mysteries of our Heavenly Father; Yahweh, His Glory; our lord Jesus Christ, and His Spirit; the Holy Spirit, has been laid bare in the terminologies of the Spirit. Study with us today and broaden your wisdom on our creator, Elohim. Explaining the terminologies of the Spirit is an unravelling into the distinct individuals that make up the Godhead (The Father, his Son; our Lord Jesus Christ, and his Spirit called, The Holy Spirit) This is so crucial for us Christians because our God is a Spirit; therefore, He should be revered as such, in “Spirit and Truth.” As a believer like you, and also as a vessel of God’s Spirit which we all are in Christ, it comes with great honour and gratitude to be part of this glorious endeavour that has changed not just my life, but the lives of others around me, who God foreknew and drew closer to me, that we may share and revel in God’s divine enlightenment. Explaining the Terminologies of the Spirit is an exposition that illuminated my soul at first grasp and gave birth to the true understanding about the Godhead, the Father, His Son, His Holy Spirit, as well as His creation. This book would do the same to whoever heed to its wisdom by the Spirit, with humility and sincerity of heart. Get the wisdom of the Father, for a gift of $3.00 today, and your life will be a living testimony. Thank you!

Book Spirit Saints and Immortality

Download or read book Spirit Saints and Immortality written by Patrick Sherry and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 1984-06-30 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a philosophical and theological study of the claim that the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, which produces sanctity, is an anticipation of a future state. Focusing on Christianity, Patrick Sherry investigates the grounds of this belief, examining the interconnections between the ideas of the spirit of God, saintliness, and immortality. Throughout, Sherry argues "that the existence of saintly people is of much more importance than is usually realized, for it is a rare and precious occurrence which requires evaluation and explanation." The existence of saints raises questions about the attainment of likeliness to God, about grace, and redemption. Sherry's study gives essential and illuminating answers.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A prolific author and thinker, Stanley J. Grenz was a respected and influential figure, not only within evangelicalism but in the wider theological world. Amongst the many issues tackled by him it is perhaps his revisioning of evangelical theology in the light of the postmodern challenge that has caused the biggest stir in the theological world. Advocating a nonfoundationalist methodology, Grenz attempts to re-position evangelical theology in line with postmodern concerns. This will be the first book length treatment on Grenz's work on theological methodology and therefore will break new ground in this important area of study.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here at last is a book that deals seriously and comprehensively with the rapidly growing field of spiritual direction. Spiritual Direction offers practical help to those clergy and laypersons who are responsible for the spiritual lives of other people. Spiritual Direction encourages spiritual directors to take their responsibilities seriously and professionally, moving spiritual direction away from "cozy little chats" to the "cold, hard slab" of the examining table. Equipped with certain skills--a keen knowledge of human psychology and an awareness of biblical and contemplative traditions--the spiritual director objectively examines the client, then offers concrete guidance for the spiritual life of the client. As a prominent figure in pastoral theology and Anglican spirituality for three decades, Martin Thornton is uniquely qualified to offer us insights into spiritual direction. He restores credibility and professionalism to spiritual direction, which is at once hard, analytical, and supportive. Thornton writes with wit, common sense, and an absence of sentimentality on a topic that calls for serious attention. Spiritual Direction is important reading for the increasing numbers of laypeople involved in spiritual direction, as well as for clergy and pastoral counselors.

Download or read book Orthodoxy in Arabic Terms written by Najib George Awad and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2015-04-24 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents Theodore Abu Qurrah’s apologetic Christian theology in dialogue with Islam. It explores the question of whether, in his attempt to convey orthodoxy in Arabic to the Muslim reader, Abu Qurrah diverged from creedal, doctrinal Christian theology and compromised its core content. A comprehensive study of the theology of Abu Qurrah and its relation to Islamic and pre-Islamic orthodox Melkite thought has not yet been pursued in modern scholarship. Awad addresses this gap in scholarship by offering a thorough analytic hermeneutics of Abu Qurrah’s apologetic thought, with specific attention to his theological thought on the Trinity and Christology. This study takes scholarship beyond attempts at editing and translating Abu Qurrah’s texts and offers scholars, students, and lay readers in the fields of Arabic Christianity, Byzantine theology, Christian-Muslim dialogues, and historical theology an unprecedented scientific study of Abu Qurrah’s theological mind.

Book The Epistemology of Spirit Beliefs

Download or read book The Epistemology of Spirit Beliefs written by Hans Van Eyghen and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-04-14 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book assesses whether belief in spirits is epistemically justified. It presents two arguments in support of the existence of spirits and arguments that experiences of various sorts (perceptions, mediumship, possession and animistic experiences) can lend justification to spirit-beliefs. Most work in philosophy of religion exclusively deals with the existence of God or the epistemic status of belief in God. Spirit beliefs are often regarded as aberrations, and the falsity of such beliefs is often assumed. This book argues that various beliefs concerning spirits can be regarded as justified when they are rooted in experiences that are not defeated. It argues that spirit-beliefs are not defeated by recent theories put forth by neuroscientists, cognitive scientists or evolutionary biologists. Additional arguments are made that traditional theistic belief is epistemically linked to spirit beliefs and that unusual events can be explained in terms of spirit-activity. The book draws on theistic arguments, phenomenal conservatism and defenses of religious experiences to argue for the justification of spirit-beliefs. The arguments draw on examples from various religious traditions ranging from Christianity and Islam to Haitian Vodou and Tibetan Bon. The Epistemology of Spirit Beliefs will be of interest to researchers and advanced students working in philosophy of religion, religious epistemology, ethnography and cognitive neuroscience.

Book The Interpreting Spirit

  • Author : Hannah R. K. Mather
  • Publisher : Pickwick Publications
  • Release : 2020-10-08
  • ISBN : 1725273195
  • Pages : 263 pages

Download or read book The Interpreting Spirit written by Hannah R. K. Mather and published by Pickwick Publications. This book was released on 2020-10-08 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Interpreting Spirit is both a consideration of the Spirit's role in the interpretation of Scripture and a celebration of renewal scholarship. It examines those who have focused on the Spirit's role in their hermeneutical considerations, recognizing common, uniting themes amidst the diversity of scholarly approach and opinion. Working on the principle that the Spirit communicates in ways that seek to unify and celebrate the other, Mather works diachronically from 1970, identifying and drawing together these common, uniting hallmarks into a collective understanding. Pivotal to Mather's argument is her emphasis that we do not just interpret Scripture, but that the Spirit through Scripture, and working in our lives in ways that lead us towards Scripture, interprets us. The Interpreting Spirit is the first comprehensive analysis of the conversation surrounding pneumatic interpretation that has been taking place, particularly among renewal scholars, since 1970. It seeks to answer the notoriously difficult question, ""What does the Spirit do in the process of biblical interpretation?""

Book The Origin of Paul s Religion

Download or read book The Origin of Paul s Religion written by J. Gresham Machen and published by Good Press. This book was released on 2019-11-21 with total page 347 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 'The Origin of Paul's Religion', Gresham Machen argues that Paul's teachings are essential to a valid Christian life and worldview, and that they are the result of a distinct, supernatural revelation. He counters the idea that Paul's views are limited by cultural context and must be interpreted through the lens of modern thought. Machen presents Paul as Jesus' primary interpreter, and establishes his teachings as timeless and normative. This book is a powerful defense of supernatural Christianity and a call to return to the teachings of the apostle Paul.

Book Supporting Children and Youth Through Spiritual Education

Download or read book Supporting Children and Youth Through Spiritual Education written by Kirmani, Mubina Hassanali and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2023-07-17 with total page 420 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Across academic circles over the last few decades, the interest and inquiry on spirituality continues to broaden. Currently, the school system in the United States and many Western countries put their focus on academic achievement at the expense of preparing their students’ inner cores for skills they will need to deal with a more complex and challenging world to come. Supporting Children and Youth Through Spiritual Education provides a platform for researchers and experts in the field of spirituality in children and youth to voice the urgent need for an educational system that truly nurtures the whole child. The book also considers the need to remove the misunderstandings about the terms “spirituality” and “religion” among those who work directly with children and youth. Covering key topics such as religion, cognitive development, and spiritual needs, this reference work is critical for principals, administrators, industry professionals, researchers, scholars, practitioners, academicians, instructors, and students.

Download or read book The Spirit and the Church written by J. Isaac Goff and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2018-10-01 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Spirit and the Church celebrates the life and legacy of Peter Damian Fehlner, OFM Conv., who for the past six decades has carried the torch of the Franciscan theological and philosophical vision in the fields of ecclesiology, pneumatology, Mariology, and anthropology. Articles by colleagues, former students, and associates fall into three broad categories, corresponding with several of the main areas in which Fehlner has made a longstanding scholarly contribution: the Church’s Magisterium and development of doctrine, anthropology, comma and creation; the relation between Mariology, pneumatology, and ecclesiology; and scholarly seeds planted by Fehlner now being cultivated and harvested by younger scholars. All of the essays in this volume engage with Fehlner, evaluate his contributions, and build upon and expand in new directions the contributions of our honoree. The essays in this volume manifest the contemporary relevance of Fehlner’s Franciscan vision in terms of his invitation to renew the theology of the Church in a Marian mode in the light of Vatican II.

Book The Spiritual Death of Jesus

Download or read book The Spiritual Death of Jesus written by William Atkinson and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2009-02-15 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner of the Award of Excellence of the Foundation for Pentecostal Scholarship 2010. The teaching of Kenyon, Hagin and Copeland that Jesus ‘died spiritually’ (JDS) is important because of the influence of these men, not least on Pentecostalism. JDS originated with Kenyon, and has been taught in the Word-faith movement by Hagin and Copeland, despite much criticism. It incorporates three elements: in this death, Jesus was separated from God; partook of a satanic nature; and was Satan’s prey. This theological appraisal takes research far further than previous works, both in method and in scope. It concludes that adoption of JDS by Pentecostalism would be damaging in several respects, and thus draw the latter away from its moorings in traditional Christianity. Pentecostals and others are advised to reject the bulk of this teaching.
