Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nucleon-nucleon scattering experimental tecchniques and methods for interpreting their results are briefly discussed. Results are given from experimental studies of polarization as a function of scattering angle in n-p scattering at 95, 315, and 635 Mev; polarization cross section ss a function of scattering angle; and polarization cross section as a function of neutron energy. Download or read book Polarization Phenomena In Physics Applications To Nuclear Reactions written by Makoto Tanifuji and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2018-04-17 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book allows the reader to understand the fundamentals of polarization phenomena in a general spin system, showing the polarizations to be indispensable information source of spin-dependent interactions. Particularly, the book describes polarization phenomena in nuclear scattering and reactions in detail, and explains how they provide information concerning spin-dependent interactions between the related particles. The concepts of polarization observables are explained, explicitly in the scattering of protons, deuterons and 7Li nuclei. In looking at deuteron and 7Li scattering, interactions induced by the virtual excitation of projectiles are examined in detail. Resonance reactions are investigated, focusing attention on the polarization of observables, which suggests that polarization phenomena can be used to determine the spin parity of the resonance. It is noted that in few-nucleon systems, the discrepancy between the values of polarization observables based on theoretical models and the corresponding values obtained through experimental data, is an important problem to be solved in the future. Solving this problem should provide new knowledge concerning the nuclear forces between nucleons. The author has chosen open-access publishing for this book to allow any interested person to study this branch of nuclear physics.

Download or read book Quantum Theory of Scattering written by Ta-you Wu and published by Courier Corporation. This book was released on 2014-01-15 with total page 530 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume addresses the broad formal aspects and applications of the quantum theory of scattering in atomic and nuclear collisions. An encyclopedic source of pioneering work, it serves as a text for students and a reference for professionals in the fields of chemistry, physics, and astrophysics. The self-contained treatment begins with the general theory of scattering of a particle by a central field. Subsequent chapters explore particle scattering by a non-central field, collisions between composite particles, the time-dependent theory of scattering, and nuclear reactions. An examination of dispersion relations concludes the text. Numerous graphs, tables, and footnotes illuminate each chapter, in addition to helpful appendixes and bibliographies.
