Book Metal plate connected Wood Joints

Download or read book Metal plate connected Wood Joints written by Rākeśagupta and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This publication has presented an overview of current research on MPC joints in wood trusses. The literature search was primarily of U.S. sources, with some effort to obtain literature from other parts of the world. An enormous amount of important information has been amassed by studies on testing procedures and theoretical models. Among the many attributes that must be considered in modeling and analysis of joints and trusses are the effect of load angle, wood-plate orientation, size, thickness, stiffness of steel plates, and specific gravity of wood on the strength of the joints, as well as the effect of the gap closure between members, tooth damage or length, and tooth layout on the overall joint performance. Extensive research has been done on tension joints in trusses; some has been done on heel connections, but very little has been done on web and other connections. Researchers have devoted considerable effort to understanding tensile joints under axial loading. However, experience suggests that even tensile joints are subjected to combined loadings because of eccentricities. The behavior of a simple MPC joint is very complex and influenced by many variables, including plate properties, joint geometry, and the natural variability of wood. An integrated approach, as used by Foschi (1977), that considers the material behavior and interactions of wood and plate and that is simple but sufficiently accurate for designing joints should be developed. A standard method for studying the long-term behavior of MPC joints should be developed and used in design. One possible option would be to use a time-temperature superposition principle for developing long-term data from relatively short-term tests. Failure modes of the truss joints should be characterized. Work on dynamic behavior and environmental effects on the joints is also needed."--Summary and conclusions.

Book Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis of Solids and Structures

Download or read book Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis of Solids and Structures written by René de Borst and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-07-25 with total page 481 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Built upon the two original books by Mike Crisfield and their own lecture notes, renowned scientist René de Borst and his team offer a thoroughly updated yet condensed edition that retains and builds upon the excellent reputation and appeal amongst students and engineers alike for which Crisfield's first edition is acclaimed. Together with numerous additions and updates, the new authors have retained the core content of the original publication, while bringing an improved focus on new developments and ideas. This edition offers the latest insights in non-linear finite element technology, including non-linear solution strategies, computational plasticity, damage mechanics, time-dependent effects, hyperelasticity and large-strain elasto-plasticity. The authors' integrated and consistent style and unrivalled engineering approach assures this book's unique position within the computational mechanics literature. Key features: Combines the two previous volumes into one heavily revised text with obsolete material removed, an improved layout and updated references and notations Extensive new material on more recent developments in computational mechanics Easily readable, engineering oriented, with no more details in the main text than necessary to understand the concepts. Pseudo-code throughout makes the link between theory and algorithms, and the actual implementation. Accompanied by a website (www.wiley.com/go/deborst) with a Python code, based on the pseudo-code within the book and suitable for solving small-size problems. Non-linear Finite Element Analysis of Solids and Structures, 2nd Edition is an essential reference for practising engineers and researchers that can also be used as a text for undergraduate and graduate students within computational mechanics.

Book Theoretical and Experimental Modal Analysis

Download or read book Theoretical and Experimental Modal Analysis written by Nuno Manuel Mendes Maia and published by Wiley-Blackwell. This book was released on 1997 with total page 468 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modal analysis is a discipline that has developed considerably during the last 30 years. Theoretical and Experimental Modal Analysis is a new book on modal analysis aimed at a wide range of readers, from academics such as post-graduate students and researchers, to engineers in many industries who use modal analysis tools and need to improve their knowledge of the subject. Divided into eight chapters, the book ranges from the basics of vibration theory and signal processing to more advanced topics, including identification techniques, substructural coupling, structural modification, updating of finite element models and nonlinear modal analysis. There is also an entire chapter dedicated to vibration testing techniques. It has been written with a diversity of potential readers in mind, so that all will be able to follow the book easily and assimilate the concepts involved.

Book IUTAM Symposium on Nonlinear Dynamics for Advanced Technologies and Engineering Design

Download or read book IUTAM Symposium on Nonlinear Dynamics for Advanced Technologies and Engineering Design written by Marian Wiercigroch and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-01-11 with total page 442 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nonlinear dynamics has been enjoying a vast development for nearly four decades resulting in a range of well established theory, with the potential to significantly enhance performance, effectiveness, reliability and safety of physical systems as well as offering novel technologies and designs. By critically appraising the state of the art, it is now time to develop design criteria and technology for new generation products/processes operating on principles of nonlinear interaction and in the nonlinear regime, leading to more effective, sensitive, accurate, and durable methods than what is currently available. This new approach is expected to radically influence the design, control and exploitation paradigms, in a magnitude of contexts. With a strong emphasis on experimentally calibrated and validated models, contributions by top-level international experts will foster future directions for the development of engineering technologies and design using robust nonlinear dynamics modelling and analysis.

This book was released on 2018-07-01 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vibration Testing and System Dynamics is an interdisciplinary journal serving as the forum for promoting dialogues among engineering practitioners and research scholars. As the platform for facilitating the synergy of system dynamics, testing, design, modeling, and education, the journal publishes high-quality, original articles in the theory and applications of dynamical system testing. The aim of the journal is to stimulate more research interest in and attention for the interaction of theory, design, and application in dynamic testing. Manuscripts reporting novel methodology design for modelling and testing complex dynamical systems with nonlinearity are solicited. Papers on applying modern theory of dynamics to real-world issues in all areas of physical science and description of numerical investigation are equally encouraged.
