Book Multiphase Flow in Porous Media

Download or read book Multiphase Flow in Porous Media written by P.M. Adler and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-27 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study of multiphase flow through porous media is undergoing intense development, mostly due to the recent introduction of new methods. After the profound changes induced by percolation in the eighties, attention is nowadays focused on the pore scale. The physical situation is complex and only recently have tools become available that allow significant progress to be made in the area. This volume on Multiphase Flow in Porous Media, which is also being published as a special issue of the journal Transport in Porous Media, contains contributions on the lattice-Boltzmann technique, the renormalization technique, and semi-phenomenological studies at the pore level. Attention is mostly focused on two- and three-phase flows. These techniques are of tremendous importance for the numerous applications of multiphase flows in oil fields, unsaturated soils, the chemical industry, and environmental sciences.

Book Upscaling Multiphase Flow in Porous Media

Download or read book Upscaling Multiphase Flow in Porous Media written by D.B. Das and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-12-05 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides concise, up-to-date and easy-to-follow information on certain aspects of an ever important research area: multiphase flow in porous media. This flow type is of great significance in many petroleum and environmental engineering problems, such as in secondary and tertiary oil recovery, subsurface remediation and CO2 sequestration. This book contains a collection of selected papers (all refereed) from a number of well-known experts on multiphase flow. The papers describe both recent and state-of-the-art modeling and experimental techniques for study of multiphase flow phenomena in porous media. Specifically, the book analyses three advanced topics: upscaling, pore-scale modeling, and dynamic effects in multiphase flow in porous media. This will be an invaluable reference for the development of new theories and computer-based modeling techniques for solving realistic multiphase flow problems. Part of this book has already been published in a journal. Audience This book will be of interest to academics, researchers and consultants working in the area of flow in porous media.

Book Experimental Study on Pressure Drops in Particle liquid Two phase Flow and Porous Media

Download or read book Experimental Study on Pressure Drops in Particle liquid Two phase Flow and Porous Media written by Roozbeh Vaziri and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ABSTRACT : Finding pressure drop in a particle-liquid two phase flow systems is one of the important subjects in the two-phase flow research area. This is due to complex physics (nature) of particle-liquid two phase flow; then it has a complex set of governing equations. But, this problem (pressure drop) is solved for single phase flow and also for porous media. It is offered an idea that porous media can be a two-phase particle-liquid with saturation of the particles. It means that, the genesis of porous media will happen whenever the particles do not have any movement. Thus for investigating this idea, an apparatus setup and the pressure difference for a few different particle sizes in different flow rates records are analyzed with the same particle size but in the situation of porous media.

Book Flow and Transport in Porous Media and Fractured Rock

Download or read book Flow and Transport in Porous Media and Fractured Rock written by Muhammad Sahimi and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-05-09 with total page 635 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this standard reference of the field, theoretical and experimental approaches to flow, hydrodynamic dispersion, and miscible displacements in porous media and fractured rock are considered. Two different approaches are discussed and contrasted with each other. The first approach is based on the classical equations of flow and transport, called 'continuum models'. The second approach is based on modern methods of statistical physics of disordered media; that is, on 'discrete models', which have become increasingly popular over the past 15 years. The book is unique in its scope, since (1) there is currently no book that compares the two approaches, and covers all important aspects of porous media problems; and (2) includes discussion of fractured rocks, which so far has been treated as a separate subject. Portions of the book would be suitable for an advanced undergraduate course. The book will be ideal for graduate courses on the subject, and can be used by chemical, petroleum, civil, environmental engineers, and geologists, as well as physicists, applied physicist and allied scientists that deal with various porous media problems.

Book Experimental Study on Heat Transfer in Porous Media

Download or read book Experimental Study on Heat Transfer in Porous Media written by Dr. Beant Singh and published by Partridge Publishing. This book was released on 2015-08-06 with total page 119 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is specially designed for postgraduate candidates and research scholars. We have assumed that the reader is conversant with the basic elements of fluid mechanics and heat transfer, but otherwise the book is self-contained. The book describes temperature variation, heat energy exchange, and fluid movement in porous media with the help of experimentation. The experiment is carried with different spherical balls, and water is used as fluid. The materials used as a porous media have different thermodynamic properties. The amount of heat energy exchange and thermal nonequilibrium is analyzed. The heat energy exchange is compared for different materials.

Book Three Phase Dynamic Displacement Measurements of Relative Permeability in Porous Media Using Three Immiscible Liquids

Download or read book Three Phase Dynamic Displacement Measurements of Relative Permeability in Porous Media Using Three Immiscible Liquids written by and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An experimental investigation is conducted to examine the simultaneous motion of three phases in porous media. Limited research has been done in this area; therefore, the work is exploratory in nature. Experimental apparatus is constructed to enable the flow of three immiscible fluids through a one-dimensional, horizontal glass bead packed core. The main objective of the research is to map the relative permeabilities of the fluids in the interior region of the ternary diagram through a series of dynamic displacement water floods. Fluid relative permeabilities and saturations during the dynamic displacement experiments are calculated from the three-phase extension of the two-phase dynamic displacement theory of Welge's permeability ratios, and Johnson, Bossler and naumann's two-phase method of determining individual relative permeabilities.
