Book Yarn Tension Variations During Spinning

Download or read book Yarn Tension Variations During Spinning written by Goodarz Afshari and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over recent decades many workers have studied the tensions which occur in yarns as they are being spun, especially in ring spinning and more recently in open-end spinning. In virtually all the reports known to the present author the theoretical studies have been limited to idealized steady-state conditions and experimental work has been conducted in such a manner that only low-frequency variations in tension were observed and commented upon despite the fact that many of the experimental set-ups would have been capable of monitoring much higher frequency variations with only slight modifications. This is particularly true of the tension transducers and their associated electronics whose wide frequency range has usually been degraded by the use of analogue meters and pen recorders as the output devices. The present thesis is an account of an experimental investigation of the tension variations in both ring and open-end spinning in which the instrumentation as a whole was possessed of a much wider frequency range. The tension transducer was a piezo electric device having an acceptable frequency response in excess of 10 KHz and the output was observed using a U.-V. recorder and an oscilloscope and analysed with the aid of a variety of instruments, the principal one being a spectrum analyser. It was observed that the principal frequency component in the tension spectrum has a frequency equal to the rotational speed of the spinning system and that this is invariably much more pronounced in the case of ring spinning than in open-end spinning. In ring spinning the tension spectrum also contains many harmonic components which are absent or very small in open-end spinning. The effects of a variety of machine parameters and imperfections such as speed, traveller weight and spindle- to-ring eccentricity on the tension spectrum were also investigated.

Book Experimental Research in Consumer Sciences

Download or read book Experimental Research in Consumer Sciences written by Pinkie E. Zwane and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2024-04-08 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The food and textile industries play an important role in our daily lives; they are the core of our consumer society. To make these sectors more competitive in Africa, there is need to train competent researchers, who can effectively carry out research to develop more market-oriented products. Experimental research skills are critical for the success of the food and textile industries. This book is intended to specifically address the required experimental research skills needed by graduate students entering the field. A comprehensive coverage of all the elements of the research process, including problem identification, proposal writing, designing experiments, analysing and interpreting data, the use and application of statistical packages and finally scientific report and manuscript writing, have been provided in the book. The practical examples that are presented using data in food and textiles (including apparel), and their analysis and interpretation, will help readers understand the processes of conducting research, presenting data in a scientific way, and compiling a report.
