Book Wind Tunnels and Experimental Fluid Dynamics Research

Download or read book Wind Tunnels and Experimental Fluid Dynamics Research written by Jorge Colman Lerner and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2011-07-27 with total page 728 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book "Wind Tunnels and Experimental Fluid Dynamics Research" is comprised of 33 chapters divided in five sections. The first 12 chapters discuss wind tunnel facilities and experiments in incompressible flow, while the next seven chapters deal with building dynamics, flow control and fluid mechanics. Third section of the book is dedicated to chapters discussing aerodynamic field measurements and real full scale analysis (chapters 20-22). Chapters in the last two sections deal with turbulent structure analysis (chapters 23-25) and wind tunnels in compressible flow (chapters 26-33). Contributions from a large number of international experts make this publication a highly valuable resource in wind tunnels and fluid dynamics field of research.

Book Transonic Flow at a Slotted Test Section Wall

Download or read book Transonic Flow at a Slotted Test Section Wall written by Sune B. Berndt and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of the now concluded research has been to make possible the accurate computation of slotted walls interference in transonic wind-tunnels. This has been achieved through studying experimentally the flow at and through slotted walls and through developing theoretical models for such flows. The final result is a homogenous wall boundary condition to be used when computing numerically the three-dimensional transonic flow around a wind-tunnel model, be it to determine the interference from the test-section walls or to adjust the wall parameters for zero interference. The boundary condition is of rather general applicability, admitting great freedom in the choice of slot geometry and facilitating the inclusion of corrections for viscous effects, such as disclosed by the experiments. Book A Study of the Simulation of Flow with Free stream Mach Number 1 in a Choked Wind Tunnel

Download or read book A Study of the Simulation of Flow with Free stream Mach Number 1 in a Choked Wind Tunnel written by John R. Spreiter and published by . This book was released on 1960 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Summary: The degree to which experimental results obtained under choking conditions in a wind tunnel with solid walls simulate those associated with an unbounded flow with free-stream Mach number 1 is investigated for the cases of two-dimensional and axisymmetric flows. It is found that a close resemblance does indeed exist in the vicinity of the body, and that the results obtained in this way are generally at least as accurate as those obtained in a transonic wind tunnel with partly open test section. Some of the results indicate, however, that substantial interference effects, particularly those of the wave reflection type, may be encountered under certain conditions, both in choked wind tunnels and in transonic wind tunnels, and that the reduction of these interference effects to acceptable limits may require the use of models of unusually small size.
