Book Molecular Magnetochemistry

Download or read book Molecular Magnetochemistry written by Sergey Vulfson PhD and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-08-16 with total page 492 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Investigating the relationship between the magnetic properties and structure of molecules, molecular magnetochemistry, is an area of growing interest to scientists in a variety of fields, including physical, organic and inorganic chemistry, molecular physics, and biophysics. For the first time, systematic results on magnetic properties of molecules such as mean magnetic susceptibility, their anisotropies and principal magnetic axes are presented. Molecular Magnetochemistry is a comprehensive and up-to-date view on experimental methods not covered in previous volumes, including the Zeeman effect in vapor phase and magnetic birefringence of diamagnetic systems (Cotton-Mouton Effect). The relationship between magnetic and related electrical phenomena is also described, summing up experimental data on magnetic and electrical anisotropies and components of molecular quadrupole moments.

  • Pages : 339 pages

Download or read book Magnetochemistry written by Richard L. Carlin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 339 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a book about things in magnetism that interest me. I think that these are important things which will interest a number of other chemists. The restriction is important, because it is difficult to write well about those things which are less familiar to an author. In general, the chemistry and physics of coordination compounds are what this book is about. Magnetochemistry is the study of the ground states of metal ions. When the ions are not interacting, then the study of single-ion phenomena is called paramagnetism. When the metal ions interact, then we are concerned with collective phenomena such as occur in long-range ordering. Several years ago, Hans van Duyneveldt and I published a book that explored these subjects in detail. Since that time, the field has grown tremendously, and there has been a need to bring the book up to date. Furthermore, I have felt that it would be useful to include more subsidiary material to make the work more useful as a textbook. This book is the result of those feelings of mine.

Book Introduction to Magnetochemistry

Download or read book Introduction to Magnetochemistry written by Alan Earnshaw and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introduction to Magnetochemistry provides an introduction to the more important aspects of magnetochemistry. The measurement of magnetic moment has been one of the most consistently useful to coordination chemists. For teaching purposes it provides a simple method of illustrating the ideas of electronic structure, and in research it can provide fundamental information about the bonding and stereochemistry of complexes. The book contains six chapters covering topics such as free atoms and ions, transition metal complexes, crystal field theory, second and third row transition metal complexes, antiferromagnetism, and spin-pairing of electrons. The final chapter describes important experimental methods and then to shows briefly the way in which the problems of interpretation may be tackled.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past 25 years, there have been many advances in the understanding of magnetic phenomena in molecular systems. For example, a variety of low-dimensional materials, and many new ferromagnetic, antiferromagnetic, and ferrimagnetic systems have been synthesized and analyzed; metal cluster compounds that exhibit magnetic exchange have been examined; new orbital overlap theories have been proposed to explain magneto-structural correlations in exchange coupled systems; and efforts directed toward the preparation of an organic ferromagnetic material have produced new and interesting compounds. There have also been many advances in the use of magnetism as a probe of inorganic biomolecules. This volume brings together reviews of current research in magnetochemistry that are written by the world's leading researchers in the fields of chemistry, physics, materials science, and magnetism. It contains comprehensive and in-depth reviews that describe some of the current activities of these scientists and their research and lays the foundation for future research endeavors.

Book Handbook of Modern Ferromagnetic Materials

Download or read book Handbook of Modern Ferromagnetic Materials written by Alex Goldman and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 656 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Below is a copy of Professor Takeshi Takei's original preface that he wrote for my first book, Modem Ferrite Teclmology. I was proud to receive this preface and include it here with pride and affection. We were saddened to learn of his death at 92 on March 12, 1992. Preface It is now some 50 years since ferrites debuted as an important new category of magnetic materials. They were prized for a range of properties that had no equivalents in existing metal magnetic materials, and it was not long before full-fledged research and development efforts were underway. Today, ferrites are employed in a truly wide range of applications, and the efforts of the many men and women working in the field are yielding many highly intriguing results. New, high-performance products are appearing one after another, and it would seem we have only scratched the surface of the hidden possibilities of these fascinating materials. Dr. Alex Goldman is well qualified to talk about the state of the art in ferrites. For many years Dr. Goldman has been heavily involved in the field as director of the research and development division of Spang & Co. and other enterprises. This book, Modem Ferrite Technology, based in part on his own experiences, presents a valuable overview of the field. It is testimony to his commitment and bountiful knowledge about one oftoday's most intriguing areas of technology.

Book Electronic Structure and Magnetism of Inorganic Compounds

Download or read book Electronic Structure and Magnetism of Inorganic Compounds written by P Day and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2007-10-31 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Specialist Periodical Reports provide systematic and detailed review coverage of progress in the major areas of chemical research. Written by experts in their specialist fields the series creates a unique service for the active research chemist, supplying regular critical in-depth accounts of progress in particular areas of chemistry. For over 80 years the Royal Society of Chemistry and its predecessor, the Chemical Society, have been publishing reports charting developments in chemistry, which originally took the form of Annual Reports. However, by 1967 the whole spectrum of chemistry could no longer be contained within one volume and the series Specialist Periodical Reports was born. The Annual Reports themselves still existed but were divided into two, and subsequently three, volumes covering Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry. For more general coverage of the highlights in chemistry they remain a 'must'. Since that time the SPR series has altered according to the fluctuating degree of activity in various fields of chemistry. Some titles have remained unchanged, while others have altered their emphasis along with their titles; some have been combined under a new name whereas others have had to be discontinued. The current list of Specialist Periodical Reports can be seen on the inside flap of this volume.
