Book Experimental Laminar Heat Transfer Distribution on a Blunted 15 Deg Circular Cone at Angle of Attack

Download or read book Experimental Laminar Heat Transfer Distribution on a Blunted 15 Deg Circular Cone at Angle of Attack written by GENERAL APPLIED SCIENCE LABS INC HEMPSTEAD N Y. and published by . This book was released on 1960 with total page 1 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The heat transfer on a 15 degree half-angle blunted cone at angle of attack and Mach number 8 was investigated experimentally. The results were found to agree well with similar data. Heat transfer results are presented for points along the most windward ray, the most leeward ray, and the lateral ray of the cone for several angles of attack. Several theories for predicting the heat transfer along the most windward ray of the cone are evaluated and compared with the experimental data. Theoretical methods and approximations for the axial heat transfer distribution were applied to evaluate an empirical relation for the peripheral heat transfer distribution. These results were then compared with the experimentally determined results and it was found that on the conical portion of the body reasonable engineering agreement with experiment has been obtained.

Book Laminar Heat transfer and Pressure Measurements at a Mach Number of 6 on a Sharp and Blunt 15 Half angle Cones at Angles of Attack Up to 90

Download or read book Laminar Heat transfer and Pressure Measurements at a Mach Number of 6 on a Sharp and Blunt 15 Half angle Cones at Angles of Attack Up to 90 written by Raul Jorge Conti and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two circulation conical configurations having 15° half-angles were tested in laminar boundary layer at a Mach number of 6 and angles of attack up to 90°. One cone had a sharp nose and a fineness ratio of 1.87 and the other had a spherically blunted nose with a bluntness ratio of 0.1428 and a fineness ratio of 1.66. Pressure measurements and schlieren pictures of the flow showed that near-conical flow existed above 70° high pressure areas were present near the base and the bow shock wave was considerably curved.

Book Laminar Heat Transfer on Sharp and Blunt Ten degree Cones in Conical and Parallel Low density Flow

Download or read book Laminar Heat Transfer on Sharp and Blunt Ten degree Cones in Conical and Parallel Low density Flow written by David E. Boylan and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report presents heat-transfer-rate measurements on sharp and blunt 10-deg half-angle cones at angles of attack between -9 and +10 deg in a low-density, hypersonic wind tunnel. Circumferential and longitudinal distributions are presented for cold wall conditions for a range at Mach and Reynolds numbers. The effect of source-like flows was studied by utilizing both conical and contoured expansion nozzles with the same free-stream similarity parameters and model wall temperatures. Comparisons are made with previously published experimental and theoretical results. (Author).

Book Heat Transfer Correlations for Blunt Cones at Angle of Attack

Download or read book Heat Transfer Correlations for Blunt Cones at Angle of Attack written by George F. Widhopf and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A simple correlation of the local nondimensional heat transfer rate with the local nondimensional pressure ratio for blunt cones at angles of attack is presented. The correlation is demonstrated utilizing two comprehensive sets of experimental data; one for the turbulent case and one for the laminar case. In each case, the correlation is of the form of a set of power laws (an individual power law for each conical surface location) and includes the effect of streamline spreading and entropy swallowing on the evaluation of the local heat transfer rate. At each station, the individual power law correlates the circumferential variation for a spectrum of angles of attack. It is shown that the slope of each of the individual power laws in a particular set is the same and that the power law coefficient can be accurately predicted from the zero angle-of-attack distribution. Numerical and analytic results are presented which identify the dependence of the nondimensional heat transfer rates on the various independent flow parameters and also indicate the extension of this type of correlation to conditions other than the experimental ones considered herein. Book Laminar Heat Transfer to the Most Windward Ray of a 15 Degree Spherically Blunted Cone at Angle of Attack

Download or read book Laminar Heat Transfer to the Most Windward Ray of a 15 Degree Spherically Blunted Cone at Angle of Attack written by GENERAL APPLIED SCIENCE LABS INC HEMPSTEAD N Y. and published by . This book was released on 1960 with total page 1 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For the case of a spherically blunted 15 degree half angle cone, it was shown that quite satisfactory prediction of the heat transfer to the most windward ray of the cone at angle of attack may be obtained using approximate form of the solution for the heat transfer to the stagnation line of a yawed cylinder. For the body considered, the applicability of the approximation extends from (a) equal 5 degrees to (a) equal 50 degrees. At zero angle of attack, the approximation may be improved by using the local values of the surface pressure.

Book Laminar Heat transfer and Pressure Measurements at a Mach Number of 6 on Sharp and Blunt 15 Degree Half angle Cones at Angles of Attack Up to 90 Degrees

Download or read book Laminar Heat transfer and Pressure Measurements at a Mach Number of 6 on Sharp and Blunt 15 Degree Half angle Cones at Angles of Attack Up to 90 Degrees written by RAUL J. CONTI and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 1 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Heat-transfer and pressure distributions were measured on sharp and blunt 15 degree half-angle cones. The flow was near conical on the windward side of the models up to an angle of attack of about 60 degrees. At angles of attack above 70 degrees the flow departed noticeably from conical characteristics. Heat-transfer and pressure measurements were found to agree satisfactorily with theories of simple application. At large angles of attack the effects of nose bluntness are very small in the region beyond two nose radii from the point of tangency. (Author).

Book Pressure Distribution on a Blunted 15 Degrees Circular Cone

Download or read book Pressure Distribution on a Blunted 15 Degrees Circular Cone written by GENERAL APPLIED SCIENCE LABS INC HEMPSTEAD N Y. and published by . This book was released on 1960 with total page 1 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Results are presented for an experimental wind tunnel investigation conducted at Mach 8. The effect of angle of attack and of Reynolds number variation on the pressure distribution on a blunted 15 degree semi-vortex angle right circular cone of 0.40-in. nose radius and 10.75-in. length is considered. Axial and peripheral pressure distributions are presented. Several existing theories are included and comparisons are made between them and experimental results. (Author).
