This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Experimental Hematology Today - 1988 presents the latest results of research reflecting the diverse interests of basic and clinical hematologists. The major areas explored are hematopoietic regulation by cytokines; hematopoietic cellular growth regulation, with emphasis on the interaction of stromal with hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells; granulopoietic regulators; gene transfers into hematopoietic progenitor cells; leukemogenesis; and bone marrow transplantation. All chapters report on research or clinical findings of the past year.

Book Experimental Hematology Today 1985

Download or read book Experimental Hematology Today 1985 written by S.J. Baum and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Experimental Hematology Today-1985 is a memento to the superb 14th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Experimental Hematology, held in Jerusa lem, Israel in July 1985. It represents a selection of the best presentations at the meeting. The manuscripts were selected by the local scientific committee and care fully reviewed by the editors. The yearbook is divided into five parts and represents the most recent advances in the basic sciences and clinical applications. Part I, under the leadership of Dr. L.A. Rozenszajn, is entitled "Hematopoietic Regulators." Papers in this section discuss the most recent discoveries on the phys iological regulation of hematopoiesis. Part II, "Hematopoietic Microenvironment," introduced by Dr. J.S. Greenberger, deals with the involvement ofthe hematopoietic microenvironment in the control of hematopoiesis. Dr. M. Saito leads Part Ill, "Dif ferentiation of Normal and Leukemic Cells," while Part IV, "Leukemic Cells in Leukemogenesis," is introduced by Dr. A. Raghavacher. The important discussions on recent advances in "Bone Marrow Transplantation," Part V, are headed by Dr. M.M. Bortin. Recent findings in many disciplines in experimental and clinical hematology are presented in this yearbook. It should be of considerable value to experimental and clinical scientists. Book Radiopathology of Organs and Tissues

Download or read book Radiopathology of Organs and Tissues written by Eberhard Scherer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 725 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The biologic effects of radiation on normal tissues and tumors represent a complex area for investigation. These effects are of far-reaching consequence to the diagnostic radiologist and the radiation oncologist having a significant impact not only in concepts relative to radiation protection but also in concepts relative to tumor biology and its response to radiation injury. The volume edited by SCHERER, STREFFER, and TROTT represents an extension of basic radiation biology data into the effects of radiation in producing pathology in organs and tissues. The data presented by the multiple authors involved in this text cover essentially all tissues in the body with specific definition of radiopathology changes and their impact on clinical care of the patient. This volume represents an important and significant contribution toward a better understanding of these effects and the pathology produced by radiations. L. W. BRADY H.-P. HEILMANN F. HEUCK M. W. DONNER Philadelphia Hamburg Stuttgart Baltimore Preface This book represents an attempt to describe the clinical radiobiology of complications arising in different organs after radiotherapy of cancer patients. Since by their very nature malignant tumors infiltrate the organ in which they have arisen and the neighboring tissues, curative radiotherapy requires the planned irradiation of considerable amounts of healthy but potentially or microscopically involved normal tissues and organs with the full target dose. This may lead to early or late normal tissue radiation injury.

Book Experimental Hematology Today 1989

Download or read book Experimental Hematology Today 1989 written by Norbert C. Gorin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Experimental Hematology Today - 1989 comprises selected papers presented at the 18th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Experimental Hematology, July 16-20, 1989, Paris, France. Four major areas of research are explored: present aspects of stem cell transplantation; control of hemopoiesis; hemopoiesis in malignancies; and gene transfer. The role of autologous bone marrow transplantation in acute leukemia and in Hodgkin lymphoma, properties of the murine interleukin-3 receptor, effects of Ubenimex on proliferation and differentiation of human bone marrow cells and leukemic cell lines, immune system stimulation for the therapy of advanced stage neuroblastoma, and retro-viral gene transfer of human adenosine deaminase into hematopoietic cells are some of the topics considered. ^ ***BUCHHÄNDLERTEXT-E*** Selected papers from the 18th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Experimental Hematology. The proceedings are published annually and report on the latest experimental and clinical research.

Book Immunobiology of Bone Marrow Transplantation

Download or read book Immunobiology of Bone Marrow Transplantation written by S. Thierfelder and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bone marrow transplantation, the goal which integrates hemato logists, immunologists, geneticists, oncologists and specialists of several other fields, has overcome its state of stagnation in recent years. Clinically as well as experimentally new approaches to old problems and new conclusions from recent findings proliferate: bone marrow transplantation in leukemic remission, bone marrow growth in cell culture, bone marrow manipulation with antisera, bone marrow differentiation in histoincompatible hosts, immuno suppression with partial body irradiation to cite just a few. These and other new developments were discussed by experts from 12 countries in and outside the European Community during an international seminar held on March 8-10, 1979 by the "Institut fur Hamatologie, GSF", under the auspices of the European Communities. The editors thank both the contributors to this symposium, who made it a successful meeting and submitted their manuscripts punctually, and the publishers, who have provided a volume of high quality in good time. They are also grateful for the valuable cooperation from numerous colleagues at the Institut fur Hamato logie.
