Book Experimental Environments For Computer Vision And Image Processing

Download or read book Experimental Environments For Computer Vision And Image Processing written by Henrik I Christensen and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1994-03-16 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To fully appreciate new methods developed in the area of machine vision it is necessary to have facilities which allow experimental verification of such methods. Experimental research is typically a very expensive task in terms of manpower, and consequently it is desirable to adopt standard facilities/methods which allow more efficient experimental investigations. In this volume a range of different experimental environments which facilitate construction and integration of machine vision systems is described. The environments presented cover areas such as robotics, research in individual machine vision methods, system integration, knowledge representation, and distributed computing. The set of environments covered include commercial systems, public domain software and laboratory prototype, showing the diversity of the problem of experimental research in machine vision and providing the reader with an overview of the area.

Book Computer Vision Systems

Download or read book Computer Vision Systems written by Henrik I. Christensen and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-06-29 with total page 563 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computer Vision has now reached a level of maturity that allows us not only to perform research on individual methods but also to build fully integrated computer vision systems of a signi cant complexity. This opens up a number of new problems related to architectures, systems integration, validation of - stems using benchmarking techniques, and so on. So far, the majority of vision conferences have focused on component technologies, which has motivated the organization of the First International Conference on Computer Vision Systems (ICVS). It is our hope that the conference will allow us not only to see a number of interesting new vision techniques and systems but hopefully also to de ne the research issues that need to be addressed to pave the way for more wide-scale use of computer vision in a diverse set of real-world applications. ICVS is organized as a single-track conference consisting of high-quality, p- viously unpublished, contributed papers on new and original research on c- puter vision systems. All contributions will be presented orally. A total of 65 papers were submitted for consideration by the conference. All papers were - viewed by three reviewers from the program committee. Thirty-two of the papers were selected for presentation. ICVS’99 is being held at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium and Convention Centre, in Las Palmas, on the lovely Canary Islands, Spain. The setting is spri- like, which seems only appropriate as the basis for a new conference.

Download or read book Medical Image Databases written by Stephen T.C. Wong and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 405 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Medical Image Databases covers the new technologies of biomedical imaging databases and their applications in clinical services, education, and research. Authors were selected because they are doing cutting-edge basic or technology work in relevant areas. This was done to infuse each chapter with ideas from people actively investigating and developing medical image databases rather than simply review the existing literature. The authors have analyzed the literature and have expanded on their own research. They have also addressed several common threads within their generic topics. These include system architecture, standards, information retrieval, data modeling, image visualizations, query languages, telematics, data mining, and decision supports. The new ideas and results reported in this volume suggest new and better ways to develop imaging databases and possibly lead us to the next information infrastructure in biomedicine. Medical Image Databases is suitable as a textbook for a graduate-level course on biomedical imaging or medical image databases, and as a reference for researchers and practitioners in industry.

Book Computer Perceptual Organization in Computer Vision

Download or read book Computer Perceptual Organization in Computer Vision written by Sudeep Sarkar and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1994 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the design of a complete, flexible system for perceptual organization in computer vision using graph theoretic techniques, voting methods, and an extension of the Bayesian networks called perceptual inference networks (PINs). The PIN, which forms the heart of the system and which is based on Bayesian probabilistic networks, exhibits potential for application in several areas of computer vision as well as a range of other spatial reasoning tasks. The text includes a highly comprehensive, classificatory review of prior work in perceptual organization and, within that framework, identifies key areas for future work by the computer vision research community.
