Book CFD Based Researches and Applications for Fluid Machinery and Fluid Device

Download or read book CFD Based Researches and Applications for Fluid Machinery and Fluid Device written by Jin-Hyuk Kim and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 539 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The demand for computational fluid dynamics (CFD)-based numerical techniques is increasing rapidly with the development of the computing power system. These advanced CFD techniques are applicable to various issues in the industrial engineering fields and especially contribute to the design of fluid machinery and fluid devices, which have very complicated unsteady flow phenomena and physics. In other words, to aid the rapid development of CFD techniques, the performances of fluid machinery and fluid devices with complicated unsteady flows have been enhanced significantly. In addition, many persistently troublesome problems of fluid machinery and fluid devices such as flow instability, rotor-stator interaction, surging, cavitation, vibration, and noise are solved clearly using advanced CFD techniques. This Special Issue on “CFD-Based Research and Applications for Fluid Machinery and Fluid Devices” aims to present recent novel research trends based on advanced CFD techniques for fluid machinery and fluid devices. The following topics, among others, are included in this issue:- CFD techniques and applications in fluid machinery and fluid devices;- Unsteady and transient phenomena in fluid machinery and fluid devices;- Pumps, fans, compressors, hydraulic turbines, pump turbines, valves, etc.

Book Hydrodynamics of Pumps

Download or read book Hydrodynamics of Pumps written by Christopher E. Brennen and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2011-03-28 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hydrodynamics of Pumps is a reference for pump experts and a textbook for advanced students. It examines the fluid dynamics of liquid turbomachines, particularly pumps, focusing on special problems and design issues associated with the flow of liquid through a rotating machine. There are two characteristics of a liquid that lead to problems and cause a significantly different set of concerns than those in gas turbines. These are the potential for cavitation and the high density of liquids, which enhances the possibility of damaging, unsteady flows and forces. The book begins with an introduction to the subject, including cavitation, unsteady flows and turbomachinery, basic pump design and performance principles. Chapter topics include flow features, cavitation parameters and inception, bubble dynamics, cavitation effects on pump performance, and unsteady flows and vibration in pumps - discussed in the three final chapters. The book is richly illustrated and includes many practical examples.

Book Solid Liquid Two Phase Flow in Centrifugal Pump

Download or read book Solid Liquid Two Phase Flow in Centrifugal Pump written by Zuchao Zhu and published by Springer. This book was released on 2024-05-05 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book conducts a systematic study on internal flow characteristics and performance of centrifugal pump for solid–liquid mixed transportation. First, the applicability of the computational model for two-phase flow is analyzed. Then the relationship between the two-phase flow characteristics and wall wear in the pipeline is revealed. And the flow characteristics in centrifugal pumps are analyzed in relation to conveying performance and wall wear. Finally, the engineering application calculation of the mixed transportation pump with different impeller structures is carried out. The target audience of this book is researchers who perform calculations and engineering applications of solid–liquid two-phase pumps. This book considers the influence of the particle size on the force magnitude of the particles and analyzes the applicability of different solid–liquid two-phase calculation models. Considering the different motion trajectories of particles colliding with dry wall, wet wall, stationary wall, and moving wall, visual experiments are used to study the collision rebound model of different walls. The collision rebound model is applied to the numerical simulation of solid–liquid mixed transport.
