Notre travail avait pour objectif d'étudier la différence de vécu entre une première grossesse et les suivantes. Étude qualitative par entretiens semi-dirigés menée auprès de 11 femmes multipares. Les multipares sont moins désireuses d'être prises par la main pour leur suivi médical que les primipares, elles sont mieux informées, plus autonomes, moins observantes et demandeuses d'un suivi plus personnalisé. Les grossesses sont physiquement de plus en plus éreintantes car les multipares se reposent moins, écoutent moins leur corps. Elles sont moins sensibles aux changements corporels, mais avec un plus grand sentiment de contrôle. Il n'y a pas de corrélation entre le vécu des précédents accouchements et la manière dont le suivant est envisagé. La personnalité de la mère est davantage un facteur prédictif, même si une première expérience positive favorise la sérénité tandis qu'une expérience traumatisante peut engendrer la peur. La parité influence les questionnements maternels lors des grossesses. Les primipares sont préoccupées par leur capacité à être une bonne mère ; les multipares par la fatigue, l'intendance et de nouvelles peurs en lien avec les aînés. Quant aux pères, ils sont moins investis dans les grossesses suivantes du fait des aînés et l'entourage manifeste son soutien différemment (aide concrète vs. festivités et cadeaux). Psychologiquement, la première grossesse est vécue comme une aventure et une découverte tandis que les grossesses suivantes suscitent moins de magie, les multigestes étant accaparés par le quotidien. Notre hypothèse de départ est vérifiée : la parité influence le vécu de la grossesse, d'un point de vue médical, humain et psychologique. La prise en compte par les soignants de la parité dans le vécu de grossesse est donc cruciale. Inclure ces données dans l'enseignement des soignants devrait faciliter une prise en charge globale et personnalisée des multigestes.

The critique of ‘essentialism' (i.e. there is no specifically feminine essence) proposed by both gender theory and deconstruction is just one more twist in the ontological negation of the feminine. Contrary to all expectations, however, this ever more radical hollowing out of woman within intellectual movements supposed to protect her, this assimilation of woman to a ‘being nothing', clears the way for a new beginning. Let us now assume the thought of ‘woman' as an empty but resistant essence, an essence that is resistant precisely because it is empty, a resistance that strikes down the impossibility of its own disappearance once and for all. To ask what remains of woman after the sacrifice of her being is to signal a new era in the feminist struggle, changing the terms of the battle to go beyond both essentialism and anti-essentialism.
