Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The values we hold dear, like life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness form the foundation of who we are as a people and a nation. Our traditions and laws are based on these values and were originally designed to preserve human dignity. In my opinion, human dignity is as vital to life as the air we breathe and the water we drink. Without it, life perishes. As you will discover in this book, Agenda 21 believes you are a nuisance. Your very existence represents a stumbling block to a master plan that equates human life to a colony of ants, where the rights of the individual and human dignity are defined by servitude, not freedom, and where personal ambition must be expended for the greater good.

This book was released on 2009-05-04 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Indonesian organizations are facing ever increasing competitive pressure within and between local companies but also from global competitors. Consequently, to defend local markets and indeed exploit growth opportunities in other regions, the management of human capital (the skills, competencies and mindsets of the employeebase) has become a performance imperative for lndonesian organizations. Managing Human Capital in Indonesia: Best Practices in Aligning People with Strategic Goals explains how lndonesian organizations can migrate the management of human capital from a tactical, personnel operation to a strategic capability. In the first instance this requires a substantive overhaul of the human resource function. Based on an analysis of Indonesian, Asian and global best practices in HR management, this book explains how HR functions are being reconfigured as Strategic HR functions. The book's step-by-step practical guidelines shows how HR professionals can gain a firm understanding of the strategic imperatives of the enterprise and use this knowledge to deploy effective HR interventions. Central to such interventions is the providing of strategically critical people goals, measures and targets within a corporate Balanced Scorecard. From this, the HR organization should then build its own dedicated HR scorecard that ensures that the work of all in the function is strategically focused. Using the Balanced Scorecard as an overarching strategy management framework. Managing Human Capital in Indonesia: Best Practices in Aligning People with Strategic Goals helps the reader master those HR interventions that are most critical to the success of the enterprise. The book describes how to build and deploy a robust process for identifying, nurturing and retaining talent–a urning platform for organizations across the globe–and how to implement best practice competency, training and coaching frameworks. Providing both a helicopter view of improving enterprise performance as well as coming on developing that of the individual, the book shows how to ensure that people capabilities are hardwired to strategic goals through the shaping of individual Balanced Scorecards–from executive to front-line levels–that serve as the only appraisal system and that drive the application of appropriate bonus systems. The book also describes how lndonesian organizations can create a cadre of leaders that are capable of leading global enterprises and explains how to build a highperforming corporate culture. Reporting the findings of an exclusive survey of the HR practices of Indonesia-based organizations that was commissioned to support this book, Managing Human Capital in Indonesia: Best Practices in Aligning People with Strategic Goals provides a clear roadmap for readers to follow in the creation of a high-performing HR organization: a function that is seen as a strategic asset of the enterprise.

Book Forest Certification A Policy Perspective

Download or read book Forest Certification A Policy Perspective written by Chris Elliott and published by CIFOR. This book was released on 2000-01-01 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper analyses the development of certification programmes in three countries (Indonesia, Canada and Sweden) using the Advocacy Coalition Framework (ACF) as a theoretical reference point. The ACF is an actor-based framework for analysing policy processes and has not previously been applied in a developing country. Actors in the three countries took different approaches to certification. In Canada, in a programme development process supported by the forest products industry, a management systems approach was taken. In Sweden, performance standards were developed in a process initially driven by NGOs. In Indonesia, certification was led by an NGO within a framework established by government, and a performance standards approach was used. The paper concludes that forest certification can be best understood as a policy instrument that promotes and facilitates policy-orientated learning among actors, and provides indirect incentives for improved forest management. Learning occurs both as the standards to be used for certification are developed, and as they are implemented. The benefits of learning and consensus building among actors (such as NGOs, forest companies, private forest owners, indigenous peoples, governments, etc.) who have traditionally been in conflict with each other can be significant. On the other hand, where fundamental changes in forest policy (such as tenure and forest revenue reform) are needed, certification should not be seen as a substitute for these A further conclusion is that, while public policies change over periods of decades, the private policies of retailers and forest product companies can adapt more rapidly to changing circumstances. The concept of a ‘fast track’ of private policy change, compared to the slower track of governmental policy change, is therefore proposed and described. A number of interesting theoretical and empirical avenues for further research on certification are discussed.

Book The Planetary Interest

Download or read book The Planetary Interest written by Kennedy Graham and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2003-09-02 with total page 520 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text suggests that contemporary political and institutional arrangements for problem-solving, based on sovereignty as a principle and the nation-state as a decision-making unit, are not equipped to handle such problems and that concepts and methods of decision-making are therefore needed to augment existing ones in dealing with the challenges of the 21st-century.; Kennedy Graham argues that, henceforth, the planet and humanity must be considered as a single-entity for decsion making purposes. He introduces and develops the idea of the planetary interest as a vital conceptual tool to assist citizens and policy-makers in understanding emerging global problems and approaching them with global solutions. The book includes contributions from 20 current or former politicians, who discuss the particular global problems threatening their countries, looking at the ways in which the planetary interest can help them pursue a legitimate national interest.
