Book B Decays

    Book Details:
  • Author : Sheldon Stone
  • Publisher : World Scientific
  • Release : 1994
  • ISBN : 9789810218362
  • Pages : 676 pages

Download or read book B Decays written by Sheldon Stone and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1994 with total page 676 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This 2nd edition is an extensive update of "B Decays?. The revisions are necessary because of the extensive amount of new data and new theoretical ideas. This book reviews what is known about b-quark decays and also looks at what can be learned in the future. The importance of this research area is increasing, as evidenced by the approval of the luminosity upgrade for CESR and the asymmetric B factories at SLAC and KEK, and the possibility of experiments at hadron colliders. The key experimental observations made thus far, measurement of the lifetimes of the different B species, B0-B0 mixing, the discovery of ?Penguin? mediated decays, and the extraction of the CKM matrix elements Vub and Vcb from semileptonic decays, as well as more mundane results, are described in great detail by the experimentalists who have been closely involved with making the measurements. Theoretical progress in understanding b-quark decays using HQET and lattice gauge techniques are described by theorists who have developed and used these techniques.Synthesizing the experimental and theoretical information, several articles discuss the implications for the ?Standard Model? and how further tests can be done using measurements of CP violation in the B system.

Book The Hadron Mass Spectrum

Download or read book The Hadron Mass Spectrum written by E. Klempt and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-06-03 with total page 457 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Hadron Mass Spectrum covers the proceedings of the Rheinfels Workshop on the Hadron Mass Spectrum, held in St. Goar, Germany on September 3-6, 1990. The book focuses on the processes, methodologies, and reactions involved in hadron spectroscopy. The selection first offers information on strange meson and strangeonium spectroscopy and strangeonium production from LASS. The book also takes a look at the status of strange meson spectroscopy, including status of the spectroscopy, systematics of the level structure, and contributions from LASS. The publication examines the scalar meson enigma and two photon couplings of scalar and tensor mesons. The manuscript also touches on rhoprimes, omegaprimes, and glueballs; meson production mechanisms and selection criteria for cryptoexotic states; and light meson spectroscopy and threshold effects. The selection is a dependable reference for readers interested in hadron mass spectrum.

Book Search for Charmless Hadronic Decays of B Mesons with the SLD Detector

Download or read book Search for Charmless Hadronic Decays of B Mesons with the SLD Detector written by and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 5 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on a sample of approximately 500,000 hadronic Z° decays accumulated between 1993 and 1998, the SLD experiment has set limits on 24 fully charged two-body and quasi two-body exclusive charmless hadronic decays of B, B°, and B{sub s}° mesons. The precise tracking capabilities of the SLD detector provided for the efficient reduction of combinatoric backgrounds, yielding the most precise available limits for ten of these modes.

Book OBSERVATION OF EXCLUSIVE TWO BODY B DECAYS TO KAONS AND PIONS

Download or read book OBSERVATION OF EXCLUSIVE TWO BODY B DECAYS TO KAONS AND PIONS written by and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 9 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We have studied two-body charmless hadronic decays of B mesons into the final states??, K?, and KK. Using 3.3 million B{bar B} pairs collected with the CLEO-II detector, we have made the first observation of the decays B° → K?−, B+ → K°?+, and the sum of B+ →?+?° and B+ → K+?° decays (an average over charge-conjugate states is always implied). We place upper limits on branching fractions for the remaining decay modes.

Book Lifetime Measurements with Exclusively Reconstructed B Decays

Download or read book Lifetime Measurements with Exclusively Reconstructed B Decays written by and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 5 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Data collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric B Factory at SLAC are used to measure the lifetimes of the B° and B mesons. The data sample consists of 8.3 fb−1 collected near the [Upsilon](4S) resonance. B° and B mesons are fully reconstructed in several exclusive hadronic decay modes to charm and charmonium final states. The B lifetimes are determined from the flight length difference between the two B mesons.

Book Hadronic B Decays at BaBar

Download or read book Hadronic B Decays at BaBar written by and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 5 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present preliminary results on hadronic decays of B mesons, based on data recorded at the?(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B-factory at SLAC. We measure branching fractions of many B decay modes, including decays to J/??K, J/???− and?{sub c}K final states. We report the observation of the decay B → D{sub s}+?− and the first measurement of the flavor-tagged D meson production in B° decays. Since their preliminary nature, the results presented in this paper are based on different data samples.
