Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The RIKEN Symposium was held in December of 1989 with 3 main goals in mind. The first goal was to survey the present status of studies in nuclear collective motion and nuclear reaction dynamics. The second goal was to look into future directions of the two topics. The third goal of the Symposium was to commemorate the work of the late Professor Taro Tamura.

Book Collective Excitation Spectra of Transitional Even Nuclei

Download or read book Collective Excitation Spectra of Transitional Even Nuclei written by and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This talk is dealing with the nuclear low energy collective motion as described in the context of microscopic versions of the Bohr Hamiltonian. Two different ways of building microscopically Bohr collective Hamiltonians will be sketched; one within the framework of the Generator Coordinate Method, the other using the Adiabatic Time-Dependent Hartree-Fock-Boholyubov approximation. A sample of recent results will be presented which pertains to the description of transitional even nuclei and to the newly revisited phenomenon of superdeformation at low spin.

Book Nuclear Structure

    Book Details:
  • Author : William Hornyak
  • Publisher : Elsevier
  • Release : 2012-12-02
  • ISBN : 0323144381
  • Pages : 620 pages

Download or read book Nuclear Structure written by William Hornyak and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 620 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nuclear Structure covers material usually discussed in courses about nuclear structure. The presentation, although recommends and not necessarily requires the reader to have some knowledge of introductory nuclear physics at an elementary or undergraduate level, requires a good knowledge of the elements of quantum mechanics, including an introduction to Dirac theory. The text covers topics such as nucleon-nucleon forces, the boson-exchange model, high-energy electron scattering, and the single particle shell model. Also covered are topics such as single-particle potentials, spin-orbit interactions, the individual-particle model, states of different nuclei, electromagnetic interactions with nuclei, and beta-decay. The book is recommended for nuclear physics students who have background knowledge on nuclear structure and would like to know more about the topic.

Book Giant Resonances

    Book Details:
  • Author : M. N. Harakeh
  • Publisher : Oxford Studies in Nuclear Phys
  • Release : 2001
  • ISBN : 9780198517337
  • Pages : 658 pages

Download or read book Giant Resonances written by M. N. Harakeh and published by Oxford Studies in Nuclear Phys. This book was released on 2001 with total page 658 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Giant resonances are collective excitations of the atomic nucleus, a typical quantum many-body system. The study of these fundamental modes has in many respects contributed to our understanding of the bulk behavior of the nucleus and of the dynamics of non-equilibrium excitations. Although the phenomenon of giant resonances has been known for more than 50 years, a large amount of information has been obtained in the last 10 years. This book gives an up-to-date, comprehensive account of our present knowledge of giant resonances. It presents the experimental facts and the techniques used to obtain that information, describes how these facts fit into theoretical concepts and how this allows to determine various nuclear properties which are otherwise difficult to obtain. Included as an introduction is an overview of the main facts, a short history of how the field has developed in the course of time, and a discussion of future perspectives.
