Book Solutions of the Examples in a Treatise on Differential Equations Classic Reprint

Download or read book Solutions of the Examples in a Treatise on Differential Equations Classic Reprint written by Andrew Russell Forsyth and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-11-28 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Solutions of the Examples in a Treatise on Differential Equations The first German edition of the Treatise, translated by the late Dr H. Maser, contained the solutions of most of the examples in my own first and second editions - not a few of them were supplied to him by me. But my later editions contained a vast added array of equations, not solved in the second German edition. To make the volume complete, all the questions (except where the results were taken from original memoirs) were worked out anew from the beginning. I have had in mind principally the needs Of teachers and only subsidiarily the ease of students who are in a position to follow courses of instruction. My hope is that the volume will prove useful to those for whose benefit it hasbeen compiled. And I wish to thank the Staff of the University Press at Cambridge for their care in printing the book. Book A Text Book of Differential Calculus

Download or read book A Text Book of Differential Calculus written by Ganesh Prasad and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-06 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A d104-Book of Differential Calculus: With Numerous Worked Out Examples This volume is based on my experience in teaching the elements of the Differential Calculus to a large number of pupils. It is, therefore, throughout of an elementary character. But, as certain parts of it may be found difficult by beginners, they have been marked with an asterisk and may be omitted in a first reading. A few words may be said here about Chapter I. In a mathematical book, which professes to be rigorous in its treatment, it is essential that the definitions be carefully worded. This has been done in the present work. It is, however, possible that, for this reason, Chapter I. May be found heavy reading by some students. To them my advice is this: If you do not grasp the full meaning of a definition in a first reading, leave it and after reading Chapters II. And III. Come back to Chapter I., and then you will understand the definition better. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Treatise on the Differential Calculus: With Numerous Examples The present edition has been carefully revised and some; what enlarged. I have examined with attention and interest treatises on the Differential Calculus recently published by eminent mathematicians, in order to discover if the methods of explaining and developing the principles of the subject had gained any real improvement during the last twenty years. I have not however found reason for concluding that I could with advantage make any essential change in this elementary work. Book excerpt: Excerpt from An Elementary Treatise on the Differential Calculus: With Applications and Numerous Examples IN issuing a second edition of the present volume it has been found desirable to enlarge it considerably beyond its original limits. The necessity for this has arisen partly from the increased requirements of the class of students for whom the book was originally written, and partly from the expressed opinion of many teachers that its sphere of useful ness might be thereby extended. Download or read book Easy Lessons in the Differential Calculus written by Richard A. Proctor and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-03-03 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Easy Lessons in the Differential Calculus: Indicating From the Outset the Utility of the Processes Called Differentiation and Integration I first took interest in algebra when I found that problems in Single and Double Position could be solved much more readily by algebra than by the rather absurd rules given for such problems in books on arithmetic. In like manner, I could find no interest in the Differential Calculus till, after wading through two hundred pages of matter having no apparent use (and for the most part really useless), I found the calculus available for the ready solution of problems in Maxima and Minima. This little work has been planned with. Direct reference to my own experience at school and college. The usual method of teaching the Differential and Integral Calculus seems to me almost as absurd (quite as absurd it could scarcely be) as the plan by which chil dren, instead of being taught how to speak - whether their own language or another - tare made to learn by rote rules relating to the philosophy of language such as not one grammarian in ten thousand ever thinks about in after life.
