This book was released on 2010-12 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the last years, as power demand grow, the power systems become increasingly more difficult to operate within the indices power quality, and the system become more insecure with unscheduled power flows and higher losses. In this context to overcome the technical difficulty related to power system security, a new concept has been introduced to power system operation and control called Flexible Alternative Current Transmission System (FACTS). The main objective of the different FACTS technology is to bring a system under flexible control and to transmit power as ordered by the control centre. In other term, this new technology allows to increase the power system security at severe loading conditions and critical situations (Contingency). This thesis gives an insight on the application of hybrid parallel global optimization methods based: Genetic Algorithm, Particle Swarm Optimization, and Fuzzy logic, to enhance the optimal power flow solution with consideration of multi type FACTS Controllers. This thesis will be especially useful to graduate students, academic researchers, and engineers specialized in power system operation and control

Download or read book From Smart Grids to Smart Cities written by Massimo La Scala and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2021-04-27 with total page 371 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses different algorithms and applications based on the theory of multiobjective goal attainment optimization. In detail the authors show as the optimal asset of the energy hubs network which (i) meets the loads, (ii) minimizes the energy costs and (iii) assures a robust and reliable operation of the multicarrier energy network can be formalized by a nonlinear constrained multiobjective optimization problem. Since these design objectives conflict with each other, the solution of such the optimal energy flow problem hasn’t got a unique solution and a suitable trade off between the objectives should be identified. A further contribution of the book consists in presenting real-world applications and results of the proposed methodologies developed by the authors in three research projects recently completed and characterized by actual implementation under an overall budget of about 23 million €.
